  • Summary: D-Link makes good quality network hardware and this router is no exception. I install quite a few of these for clients and haven't have a call back on them so far.

  • Summary: Set it up with my internet and it is not working. I am in the Caribbean so it is unfortunate that I cannot return it without additional expenses. Called in a technician who told me the router is faulty.

AWESOME after firmware update

  • Summary: My DIR-651 came installed with 1.00 but after reading many reviews and forums about the problems the router had and the fact that firmware 1.10 fix the problems I installed it and it is great. PROS; I have had no problems with video Skype, torrents, or gaming. This router paired with my unrestricted 200Mbs fiber connection from my ISP equals super smooth and fast connections.

Decent Low End Router

  • Summary: D-Link makes pretty good products and if you're in need of a cheap router you could do worse than the DIR-651. I've had this and the DIR-655 and have had issues with both. I live in a 3 bedroom apartment that is longer than it is wide. The router is placed by the TV where we have a PS3, XBOX 360, DirecTV and a wired ethernet bridge connected to it. Wirelessly we have 2 Macs and our phones feeding off it. The thing is slow and the range is subpar.

Does the trick.

  • Summary: Obviously it's not a state of the art piece of equipment, but I don't need anything fancier for basic at-home use. (Don't listen to the people at Best Buy who tell you that you really want the latest greatest features.

does NOT work, I thoroughly tested it, and it will NOT work

  • Summary: Firstly, I have worked as a computer technician in networking and repair, and I have a BS and MS in electrical engineering. I purchased this router around 2/21/2013. I have the current firmware v1.11 and build A2. This is the most up to date firmware available. I experienced all of the same connectivity issues with this router that everyone else has experienced (see google/amazon reviews).

Great Buy...IF YOU LIKE TORTURING YOURSELF!

  • Summary: I would not recommend anyone to buy this router. It obviously has some kind of firmware/software/hardware issues out of the box. I've done the updates and have the most recent firmware. I STILL continue to have the same problems as many others have described. From what I've seen there is just a bug when trying to use the wireless protection on this router. I constantly have to restart this router a few times a week. Some things will connect, others won't.

Move along, nothing to see here

  • Summary: The D-Link DIR 651 Wireless N Router is one of the new releases of consumer routers from D-Link. The only major upgrade on this unit is the gigabit Ethernet port (-vs- high-speed from previous model, the DIR 615). It does NOT have an active USB SharePort(tm) for attaching USB devices (external HD, shared printer, etc).

Cheap, solid, extremely comprehensive control panel.

  • Summary: After going round and round with AT&T's Netgear 7550 wireless DSL gateway, I finally gave up in disgust and decided to buy a separate DSL modem and a wireless-N router. I took a chance on this router because of the mention of extended range on the box, the low price, positive past experience with D-Link products, and the seeming simplicity of the unit. I'm glad I did. Two different Netgear routers had ethernet problems that caused me to be unable to print consistently.
