Summary: I bought this router to increase the performance of my home network. It was intended to replace a dlink 615 wireless N. After using it for a week or so I went back to my 615. The range was not significantly increased and the speed was decreased. On top of that my WI FI radio didn't know it existed in a wireless mode.
Excerpt: Have owned this since 5/14/2009 and have not had any major issues yet. The Wireless range is great I live in a 2 story apt build with 24 apts, 12 on each floor and I can pick up my network in the middle of the building on my floor and some down stairs. granted the single is week when I in those parts of the building but I attribut that to fire walls and fire doors and the other apts.
Summary: We were up and running fine for 1 month with this product, enjoying the greater speeds of 300Mbps vs our old 100Mbps system, but last night, the product stopped working. I called the 24 Hr support line, only to be told that because I didn't buy direct from D-Link, they could not help me. They gave me another # which said to call back during business hours. They advised me I need to purchase a support plan. The software does not recognize the device as valid.
Summary: I've been using a D-Link DIR-601 Wireless N Router for about 6 months and was impressed with how easy the installation was. The reliability of that model, along with the price I paid for it (bought it for $23.00 new) perked my interest in upgrading to another D-Link router. This is primarily why I started reading reviews on the DIR-625. This router is a few years old, and the only difficulty I had with it, is due to this fact, and well because I'm cheap also.
Summary: Bought this to replace an old router, although this unit was becoming obsolete, the price was to good to pass up for a NIB unit. It installed easily, fast startup, no problems. Pretty much plug and play.... I have it installed about 50 feet from my laptop through several walls and it works very well.
