Summary: It's really hard to setup. I had to find firmware from out of the US to make it work. Then about a moth into using it the thing stopped working. I can hear a part rattling around in the case. I got it set up with my iPad to work with Gogo on airplanes so I could use more than one device at a time.
Not functional - returned and bought from DLink instead. Great product.

Summary: Not sure how to rate the product. The device I bought here was not fully functional. Even after updating firmware the configuration pages did not match the documentation. Maybe I got a third party knock-off. I was never able to get it to fully function as described.
Summary: I purchased this device and then returned it. I wanted to use it as a streaming device from a hard drive to an iPad. It worked very intermittently. I got it to work at home the 1st day, then later the same day it would not work at all.
Terrible product. No Customer Support. Shareport Application not available for download in the US.

Summary: Background: Equipment tried - Ipad 3 and Ipad 2 both running the IOS 6.0.1 The Dlink DIR-506. is ver A2 and has Firmware V2.11 I bought this product excited to use my external hard drive on my Ipad to play music as I can't connect my external to my work computer.
Summary: I downloaded and tried to apply the latest firmware upgrade, but the router says to only do this over a wired connection? This is a wireless device, no directions were supplied on how to do this over a wired connection?
Pros: I can't think of any pros. I was unable to set it up, or use it. It kept crashing and freezing up. Was difficult to even connect to it via WIFI. Took multiple attempts and reboots of the router, just to access it.
Cons: Where to begin. Maybe I got a defective unit, but I was unable to do anything with this router. After many router reboots I was finally able to login to the router's user/setup interface. Any time I tried to change a setting the router would lock-up. Many times my Asus netbook would connect to it...
Summary: I’ve got a new ultrabook. It had Windows 7 on it and was able to connect with the D-link router and get on the Internet and stream some video and set up the privacy protocols. This was the only time I was able to get the D-link router to function at all.
Pros: Did manage to get it to work with my laptop and it worked well one time. Got on the Internet fine and even streamed some video. But then I upgraded to Windows 8 and that was that for the D-link router. See Other Thoughts below. I’m the kind of guy that want’s products to work like advertised. I d...
Cons: A good idea with terrible software and a flaky router. I’m saying run from this product like it was a live hand grenade. For me it simply didn’t work despite a week trying to coax some semblance of operation out of it. The router itself is cheaply made and unattractive. For some inexplicable reas...
