Summary: D-Link needs to re-engineer the boards with chips equpiied with heat sinks.
Pros: Magnificent throughput in Turbo mode... great looking and highly functional unit. Runs 9 of my computers simultaneously over DSL 6.0 Extreme FLAWLESSLY.
Cons: The application of 2 heat sinks on BOTH chips prevents the overheating problem these units incur. The lock-ups are caused by overheated chips on the main board. Installing two separate paste-on heat sinks totally ELIMINATES the lock-up issue!
Summary: I've had this router for about six months now. I've connected every imaginable NIC wireless and wired. I've had the best connections when I don't use the connection utility that comes with the wireless NIC. Just load the drivers for the card. Let Windows XP take care of the connection.
Pros: Great Range and impressive range of options for this price range.
Summary: I have tried several different models of routers in the past, and this one tops them all in every respect. They do get hot, like every router seems to get now-a-days, but that shouldn't be causing any lockups.
Summary: This router was purchased with the intention of adding 802.11a/b/g to an existing network. The firewall, NAT, etc. was not a requirement. The requirement(s) related to security and wireless protocol capability.
Pros: Excellent router if you are looking for 802.11g and/or 802.11a/g. For those who are security minded, this has all the features you're going to normally look for - as a home/home office wireless router.
Cons: I would not use this product beyond the scope below (Check "Other thoughts")
Summary: I purchased this router to allow both 802.11a and 802.11g clients to work together seamlessly. It does exactly that! With MAC filtering, built in firewall and support for any protocol this router is a must!
Summary: I have bought 2 one for my Moms house one for mine. Through 4 walls my son still gets a signal to be hooked up and play his online games with no problems what so ever. I did buy the Matching D-LINK Tri band adapter. Simple to set up just make sure you get the latest firmware from D-LINK.
