Summary: D-Link needs to re-engineer the boards with chips equpiied with heat sinks.
Pros: Magnificent throughput in Turbo mode... great looking and highly functional unit. Runs 9 of my computers simultaneously over DSL 6.0 Extreme FLAWLESSLY.
Cons: The application of 2 heat sinks on BOTH chips prevents the overheating problem these units incur. The lock-ups are caused by overheated chips on the main board. Installing two separate paste-on heat sinks totally ELIMINATES the lock-up issue!
Cons: Just like everybody else. it locks up and won't work. The first one lasted all most 6 months. D-link sent a new one,(that took 3 weeks to get). The second one work some what for 2 days. I'm still waiting for the third one to come.
Summary: I already placed an order for a better router from another company.
Pros: Excellent router when it works
Cons: after 9 months the router started freezing. All the lights would light up and I would have to unplug the power and plug it back in to work again. I fixed it for about a day by taking the casing off, but now even with it off it still freezes up.
Summary: Before shipping me the 4th replacement I had spoken with Dlink and requested a different unit. They agreed to send me a DGL-4300 which is supposed to be very reliable and have good range even though the feature set is much lower. The sent me the same junk back again.
Pros: Great reception and does it all.
Cons: After writing my first review I started experiencing random reboots. The interval kept getting shorter and shorter until the router finally died. In the two years I've owned this unit I am currently on the 4th unit and it is starting to reboot. I am trying to contact Dlink today.
Summary: I've had this router for about six months now. I've connected every imaginable NIC wireless and wired. I've had the best connections when I don't use the connection utility that comes with the wireless NIC. Just load the drivers for the card. Let Windows XP take care of the connection.
Pros: Great Range and impressive range of options for this price range.
Summary: I have tried several different models of routers in the past, and this one tops them all in every respect. They do get hot, like every router seems to get now-a-days, but that shouldn't be causing any lockups.
Summary: The product idea is good but after that experience I won't buy DLINK again. Waste of money.
Pros: Good concept, good features, offers great variety off Standards and 2 different frequency spectrums.
Cons: Thermal problems, started to lockup after 2 month. The DLINK technical support is the worst I ever experienced. It started with emails what to do, calls to level 1, level 2 and level 3 Technicians and only the level 3 can give you an RMA. I spend hours on the phone most time waiting in queque (ov...
