Excerpt: I think this router has it's good points. It's fairly simple to set-up. I was able to walk thru it with my ex girlfriend over the phone. I had to send her the manual in the mail, but she was able to follow along with me.When you get everything set up, there is very little maintenance.
Excerpt: The d-link wireless router was cheap and worth it because it works for all my needs. Because the wireless router has a pretty Fast connection. The router has a fairly long range for connectivity but like all routers the signal drops a little bit as it goes through walls. The router is cool because it has a removable antenna which can be useful if you want to replace the antenna with a nicer one.
If you were stranded on an island, would you choose this router?

Excerpt: Dlink is the wireless network we have set up in my home--or should I say, my parents' home. Since I go to college about an hour away, I sometimes come back for the weekends. The network I have in my apartment is Comcast; the network I have at my parents' house is dlink. The story goes, my dad had bought a router and we were doing just fine with it. Then, for some reason, he switches to dlink out of the blue.
Excerpt: The DI-624 is the first wireless router I had ever set up for personal use, after having some experience setting up and maintaining a hybrid wireless/wired network for my laboratory using Apple products. That's to say I had some idea of what to expect in terms of set-up and some expectation of performance.
Excerpt: I bought this product 2 years back and it is still in good condition... I would recommend this product because of the price... we bought it in deal for 20 $ so for the product it is good deal. Has been working good so far but keeps falling sometimes.
Excerpt: The D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G DI-624 router was one of those devices that seemed to be most compared to a Microsoft product. At the time it was the cheapest 108 MBps wireless router, which is the main reason why I bought it. Originally I had issues with it constantly dropping connection as well. I ended up finding out that the majority of the issues were from the built in wireless card in the laptop.
Summary: For the price, it is worth to have it. I would like to see dlink increase the size of flash, so there are more rules can be stored. The time will be reset back to default, if you reboot the router.
Pros: easy setup...It also provides good features for home use.
Cons: You can only set 10 firewall rules and filterings.
Summary: The initial installation went smoothly then I made the mistake of following the manufacturer's recommendation and upgraded the firmware. That rendered the device useless. After five days, multiple emails, two phone calls, 45 minutes on hold and and hour with a support person on the phone we were able to resolve the problem and it is working fine. The router itself is pretty slick and has nice features. I don't anticipate any more problems.
Summary: After calling the tech. support line, of course it was not a 800 number, 30 min. later the tech had me going through programs that eventually froze up my computer, first the mouse stuck in the middle of the screen, then the key board stopped working. i complained to the tech what just happened, he suggested I call Microsoft to solve this problem and suggested my computer had problem prior to the tech. removing and rearranging programs.
