Summary: After reading over 100 reviews on this router, I basically starting fudging my Huggies thinking that installing it was gonna be some kind of total nightmare. But it turned out to be a total no-brainer... in fact, I'm sure my mom could do it, no problem.
Pros: - No brainer installation (even for total newbs) - Cheap with lots of advanced features (although there's definitely a learning curve involved in order to acquire an appreciation for them).
Cons: - Help file for 'web-based configuration utility' needs a rewrite (and some serious fleshing out especially with regards to how to configure the firewall).
Excerpt: I recently purchased a D-Link Router. It is a wireless 108G Router Model No: DI-624. I purchased this router not to share an Internet connection, which is usually the case but mainly as a print server. I wanted to be able to print wirelessly from my …
Summary: I bought this router to replace a linksys router that I had to contantly reboot. The D-Link was only $5. after rebates and has worked flawlessly. I also have a D-Link 5-port switch running off this router with no problems at all. Can't beat the price for a wired router.
Summary: For the price, it is worth to have it. I would like to see dlink increase the size of flash, so there are more rules can be stored. The time will be reset back to default, if you reboot the router.
Pros: easy setup...It also provides good features for home use.
Cons: You can only set 10 firewall rules and filterings.
Summary: when just web browsing with this unit or basically under-utilizing a broadband connection you'll be fine for a long time. When you start to connect up 3+ machines, this thing starts to show it's lacking some horsepower. 1.
Pros: Ease of use, lots of features that seem to really work upon setup, small, low power, intuitive setup
Cons: not stable, missing the "protect me from a hacker" option for removal
Excerpt: D-Link DI-624 When my wireless router went south two months ago, I began doing some window shopping for the latest and greatest in wireless connectivity. Standards had changed significantly since I purchased my last router, so I added a fair amount of reading up on technology to my daily …
Summary: It took a while to find that the source of the dropped cable internet connection was this D-Link DI-604 problem with it's WAN port. I had to power-cycle, reset and even upgrade the firmware whenever it lost the link with the cable modem, the router will work sending/receiving packets for a moment...
Pros: Quick to setup, little or no administration
Cons: Dropped WAN connection, became more and more frequent
Routers, Repeaters, Switches & Tranceivers Review D Link Di 624
30 March 2005
Summary: Very good 802.11g wireless router, great coverage within my house, speeds are as advertised (48Mbps - 54Mbps), haven't upgraded firmware for the 108Mbps capability so can't comment on that feature.
Pros: web interface could be more user friendly in choosing configuarations but adequate
Cons: web interface could be more user friendly in choosing configuarations but adequate
Summary: To configure this router is a PAIN. Modifying every single parameter causes this router to reboot. After rebooting the network transfer speed becomes very low (about a few kb/s), so it has to be switched off to work properly.
