The DI-624 is a D-Link XtremeG wireless router that offers wireless transmission speeds of up to 108 Mbps when used with other XtremeG devices. For non-XtremeG products, the DI-624 provides normal 802.11g speeds (up to 54 Mbps). The DI-624 is a D-Link XtremeG wireless router that offers wireless transmission speeds of up to 108 Mbps when used with other XtremeG devices. For non-XtremeG products, the DI-624 provides normal 802.11g speeds (up to 54 Mbps). This high-speed wireless router, which also offers 4 Ethernet ports, is backwards compatible with the 802.11b standard.
To realize speeds of up to 108 Mbps, the D-Link DI-624 uses 5 hardware-based compression technologies: Packet Bursting, Fast Frames, Hardware Compression and Encryption, Multi-Channel Bonding and Select Mode. And with the default “Dynamic Mode,” which automatically identifies other D-Link XtremeG devices, compatible clients will consistently work at maximum speeds.
For security, the D-Link DI-624 provides an advanced firewall as well as WEP (64 bit, 128 bit and 152 bit) and WPA data encryption. It offers advanced security features such as MAC and IP address filtering, port blocking with time scheduling, URL and domain blocking as well as NAT (Network Address Translation) with VPN Pass-through. Other security features include Virtual Server Mapping, VPN (Virtual Private Network) sessions, IPSec, L2TP and PPTP passthrough.
The D-Link DI-624 measures in at 9.25 x 1.38 x 6.5 inches (W x H x D) and weighs roughly 2 pounds. It has dual dipole antennas that are easily removable. In indoor environments, the DI-624 has a maximum operating range of up to 328 feet. Outdoors, D-Link DI-624 has a claimed maximum operating range of up to 1,312 feet.

Excellent speed, with a very simple setup. Although I got into a problem with the install (no fault D-Link), I was able to quickly get through their helpdesk for tech support - and what I was helped by someone who I could actually understand (support was in California). Gotta love it when that is not outsourced! I used this in combination with the D-link 108 wireless NIC. Great range - easy to setup - easy to configure security. Read more
