Summary: I have had this router for 7 or 8 years. I had it disconnected for a few years, then reinstalled it a year ago after getting my first WiFi device. I have only had one problem, recently I had to reset it because my wifi was really slow.
Summary: While the setup disc that came with the router did not help me set it up, I was able to call the manufacturer for support. It did cost me an additional twenty-five dollars to get their help since the product was out of warranty but I was very satisfied with the overall experience.
Summary: Small, compact however easy to knock over. The antenna come off which is a nice feature I suppose.
Pros: Appears to be easy to use, great diagrams to show you where to plug things in especially if you are technically challenged. Good for the price I haven't had any problems with being able to connect. I purchased this item from a store which gave me a rebate but for some reason newegg doesn't have t...
Cons: Difficult to figure out how to set up a password, doesn't let you change the sign in name must use Admin or user as a sign in name. Took me around 2 hrs to figure out how to set up a pass word and by that time I was frustrated. Passwords also must be set in a specific manner you can only use lett...
Summary: The DynNS feature of this router is no longer compatible with the (free) DynDNS service. If you want your dynamic IP (assigned by your ISP) to be reported to a DNS server, you must now run client software on a local PC, instead of letting your DI-524 router handle that chore.
Summary: I bought two of these (one for spare) two years ago and just started using it full-time after obtaining DSL service. No problem so far after one month: have not had to reset once. I had to change the router address so as not to conflict with my DSL modem's IP address.
Pros: Does what it's supposed to do. Has decent web-browser configuration screens. Port forwarding, firewall rules, MAC restrictions, dynamic DNS. Can lower radio output if you desire. Antenna is detachable. D-Link's support site is better than average.
Cons: No SPI at this price point. Router restarts after certain configuration changes—confusing until you get used to it. Wireless range is merely adequate.
Summary: Cable they sent was way too short. I would've liked it to be a lot longer. I run NAT and DHCP off a server so I don't know the capabilities of this router in that regard. I only use it as an access point.
Pros: Makes a good connection across two stories of my house. Wall mountable.
Cons: Doesn't automatically create WEP keys. It's not a big deal if you have another router to make WEP keys - just copy and paste. If you don't have another router lying around, it's a pain.
