Good to connect less than 4 devices

Ramtin, Amazon
15 December 2013
  • Summary: This router cannot give you steady internet for probably more than 4-5 devices. I am using it at home with my 3 other room mates, and when we all using it (4 phones, and 4 laptops) it cannot support, and we all still connected but there is no internet! or sometimes we cannot even connect!

Face it 803.11g is on it's way out

Byron, Amazon

  • Summary: The device is great and makes an excellent AP and router. I have it connected to a 22 element Yagi and send the signal 3000 ft away to my daughter's trailer on the other side of my property where I have a bridge to complete the network. Sturdy and can take abuse!

You get what you pay for...

Essie H., Newegg
16 September 2008
  • Summary: I had this router for a year and a half. It will work fine when you first get it. But it will get problems like disconnects and reboots. Then you have to either reset or reinstall the firmware. It can work fine for a year or a few days and it will start disconnecting. It's really unreliable.
  • Pros: I got the router without the card for under $30. It's good when it works.
  • Cons: This router is now bundled with an adapter I see. The router is cheaply made. It will work for a while then it will start disconnecting and/or rebooting. You have to work to get it to work right again. Thing is you never know when it's gonna go out.

Cheap, With a Short Life

Brandon R., Newegg
4 June 2007
  • Pros: Very good price for this router. Worked great out of the box, no issue, until I had owned it for a year (see cons).
  • Cons: After about a year, I noticed it was dropping the PPoE connection ever 5-10 minutes. I had already done all the firmware upgrades, and a few hard-resets. After trying another router, I confirmed that it was indeed the router that was causing the problems.

OK (but dont count on the warranty)

Anonymous, Newegg
11 May 2007
  • Summary: Bought because it was cheap 2 years ago after rebate. Mine was hardware revC1, firmware updated to v3.23. Newer versions out there which may fix the reliability but you will still get the same Dlink Tech service which from my experience makes your warranty worthless.
  • Pros: Worked great for a year until it started dying. Used as wireless (w/wpa-psk) and hardwired router. Straightforward setup, got along well with my cable modem, good filtering (IP, MAC), no problems with intermixing b & g modes for wireless.
  • Cons: Started to die a couple months ago. Would randomly drop the connections and reset. Every few minutes recently. Called Dlink tech to RMA under the 3-year warranty ... they had me on the phone for an hour during which several times it would drop the PC. I gave up, hung up, and ordered another from ...
