The negative reviews you are reading on this product are NOT lies.

Summary: When I purchased this extension to my powerline network, I read the reviews and thought the "Well, for every 1 person that complains, there are probably 100's that never made the time to praise it". Man was I naive. Just like many warned... the performance on this unit drops DRASTICALLY after about a month. Right now, it's hit or miss on if it will work at all. The frustrating part is my devices will connect to it... but you can't get any data through it.
Summary: Took ages to set up using the most cryptic user manual I've ever seen. Had to redo many many many time to get a secure wifi connection. Unsecured easy but.... Then the real bizarre thing started - my iPad or laptop would connect, with a good signal strength indicated, but after 10-15 minutes all downloads start to fail despite same signal strength and ALL lights green on device. This happens all the time.
Summary: This little device had much promise as far as extending internet signal into a weak area of my home. It even worked for about a week. Then, something changed for some reason and despite my factory resets, uploading of new firmware, and multiple reboots according to factory procedure this device no longer syncs with my HomeLink router. It is basically useless now and still less than 30 days old.
Summary: I spent a few hours trying to follow the instructions from the manual as well as from the CD. It doesn't work. It doesn't pick up the signal of my otherwise good HomePlug network (Netgear equipment), so obviously, it can not be used fot extending the range wirelessly. Useless.
Summary: After several hours of trying, I could not get this extender to work. It would commnicate with my router at first, then lose all communication. I finally gve up and cascaded a second router to the other end of my house and that worked fine.
Summary: I've had two attempts with technical support. I must say, they try very hard to make it work. But I'm not sure whether they always grasp the setup a might might have. Lots of ipconfig issues. I can see the device on the network, but when I try to access the the Internet, no luck. I like the concept, but I don't want to miss my 30 day return window.
Summary: Didn't work, sent it back (thanks, Amazon). I plugged it into an electrical outlet in the room next door, no connection (green "house" light not on). Tried in my office next to the router, still nothing, a flickering green house indicator. This is with the new DHP 1320 router, which works fine. I was on the support line for an hour, no luck (OK support). I plugged it directly into the router and could get to the IP address but no connection still.
