Summary: This refurbished unit failed to work out of the box. Also purchased a two-unit pack that worked perfectly. The refurbished unit probably was returned because it wasn't working, but the refurbisher failed to detect or correct the problem.
Summary: These reasonably priced, quickly delivered units are absolutely the best thing since sliced bread! Ease of installation, speed of throughput, reliability of connectivity, great LED information bar - - - wonderful tool.
Summary: I have 3 of these units and have tried them in many different wiring configurations. The best speed I've been able to achieve is 200Mbps but that was a purely academic exercise to see if it was even possible to reach the advertised 500Mbps. So it was setup between two electrical outlets that were connected with just a few feet of wiring and nothing in between.
Summary: The product seems to work, now that I have the units connecting. This may be a first world problem of my house size, but I have had some difficulty with getting the units to connect when I tried to set the security while they were in different rooms. Once I moved the units to the same room and used the "RESET" button, instead of the actual sync button, they connected to each other and I was able to then move them to the different rooms throughout my house.
Summary: I purchased 2 of these for my new home. It worked ok, does not get anywhere close to the 200 mbps let alone the advertised 500 mbps. I knew this before hand based on reviews. But I'll take 59mbps considering that the Netgear Nano 500 units I tried prior to these refused to connect. The units are on separate levels about 40 feet apart. Simply plug and play, software worked. Netgear software did not work.
Summary: I ordered this item along with the D-Link PowerLine AV 500 Adapter Kit (DHP-501AV). I opened the kit first, tested it and it worked great. I wanted to install a second device with this adapter and when I picked up the box, I noticed there was no shrink wrap on the box. When I opened the box, it was obvious that this should have been sold as an open box item. The cable was just wadded up, the protective plastic bag for the adapter was missing, etc.
Summary: I've used an unknown brand 85 Mbps powerline for 6-7 years. Over the years we have had a number of different routers of different brands (D-Link, Linksys and Belkin), and this powerline has worked seamlessly no matter which router. With all the stuff we now have it was time to upgrade, and I decided on the D-link DHP-500AV and DHP-540. But after one day of "use" I've already returned it. For the few minutes the D-Link worked the throughput was lightening fast.
