D-Link’s DAP-1522 demonstrates the danger of shopping for a product based on its specs. On paper, this combination bridge/access point sounds as though it could solve just about any wireless coverage problem you might have. In reality, it’s a one-trick pony It’s a dual-band device, meaning it has one radio that operates on the 2.4GHz band and a second radio that runs on the 5GHz band. Read more

    • Dual-band 802.11n; dual function (wireless bridge and wireless access point).
    • Relatively slow TCP/IP throughput for an 802.11n device; expensive.

    • Dual-band, 4 port gigabit switch w/ jumbo frame support, Can be used as AP or bridge, Lowest price for dual-band draft 11n
    • Single radio, so no simultaneous dual-band., Sub-par 2.4 GHz band performance, 40% WEP and WPA/TKIP throughput reduction, Very low throughput with 802.11g clients

The need for wireless networking is almost a certainty given the amount of internet capable equipment is an average home.  Just count the potential  devices such as PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360, TV, Blu-ray player, fridge, the list can go on and on.  The speed of the wireless network needs to be sufficient to handle for example, high definition videos.  D-Link has generously provided DigitalReviews with a DAP-1522 Xtreme N Duo Wireless Bridge/Access Point Read more

Setup in Bridge mode is so easy it's tricky!? Had a real problem figuring it out. Used the WPS button, but nothing seemed to work. Problem is, once in Bridge Mode you have to use the IP address to 'see' the admin page. Set it up manually. Put button on Bridge, connected to it with ethernet cable, then turned it on. Used IP address to get into Admin Page. Entered the info from the WAP I wanted to bridge to, and Wala! Read more

    • Got it working, seems fast. Playing well with my old DLink DIR-655 WAP/Router, my son's XBox, and my Samsung TV. Price dropping rapidly.
    • Manual is unreadable. Still can't tell if the WPS button is working. No idea what the connect speeds are.
  2. Works well, solved problem of dormatory restrictions on routers

Amazon Verified Purchase ( What's this? ) This review is from: D-Link DAP-1522 Xtreme 4-Port GigaBit Selectable Dual Band Draft 802.11n N Duo Wireless Bridge/Access Point (Electronics) My daughters school did not allow wireless routers in the dormitory, but this wireless access point works great and lets her and her roommate have the flexibility of wireless or the ability to plug in. There is only only internet connection per room. The speed is very good. Read more or see product

Worked out of the box, had it setup and running in less than 10 minutes on my Wireless-N network. Seemed to connect at a decent speed at first, but then I found that the Linksys E4200 was having other issues which was slowing things down. Still, even when slightly crippled on the speed side of things my Tivo, VoIP phone, Blu-ray player, and XBOX360 (I wired it in for testing) worked quite well. Read more

    • Easy setup (and no phone call required) using the built-in web interface. Works excellent as a bridge device.
    • Wish I could turn off teh LED lights... they're BRIGHT!

I purchased this item to create a wireless bridge for my upstairs entertainment center. The device is priced competitively with other bridge makers brands. This devices are specialized which means to me that the manufactures are charging a premium for them. The user interface is browser based and pretty simple to configure. To configure the bridge I found it was best to connect it directly to my router. Once it was configured, I could then simply connect devices to it. Read more
