  • Summary: I bought this product as an attempt to fix a problem I was having connecting to my employer's vpn but it didn't help. I just needed to move my office so I could be hardwired to my modem. This product didn't help me at all.

  • Summary: Setting up the DLink DAP-1360 as an access point for my wired network was a pain - access to the setup wizard was inconsistent. After finally setting up, connection was not always automatic, but once connected it works well with laptops & tables. Smart phones take longer to connect, will loose connection if device goes to sleep and re-connection is not easy. DLink's 505L was easier to setup and all devices connect and stay connected.

Not sure what to think

peter Rabbit "PR", Amazon
1 December 2012
  • Summary: So I followed the instructions and it worked. But other things happened too. Computers that are always on and wirelessly connected to the router were suddenly displaced by the range extender, losing their addresses. I would try to reconnect and get messages saying the iP address was already in use. The addresses are supposed to be automatically assigned as available. I didn't think this could happen but it did.

Works when it does

Robin S., Newegg

  • Pros: Setup is fairly easy, just you the same wireless settings as your wireless router for AP mode. It works well when you actually get a working one.
  • Cons: Broke after 30 days had to send it back to DLink they sent a new one back its been working well now for 1 month no issues.

  • Summary: Installation appeared to go smooth however signal was Inconsistant. Signal would be strong and then drop to half then nothing. Tech Support was very helpful as usual with Dlink and found unit to be defective and to return for exchange.

Works well once it's configured correctly, which is a challenge

  • Summary: I received the DAP-1360 a few days ago. I started with the instructions on the CD. Big mistake. I was unable to access [...], which is how you access the setup wizard. I wasted an hour or so troubleshooting until I noticed the Initial Setup Guide on the folded insert that was in the box. I reconfigured my XP PC according to the instructions and accessed the Initial Setup Guide. I needed to set up the DAP-1360 as a wireless client.

A pain to set up, but works great

John S., Newegg
25 January 2011
  • Summary: Took 3 weeks of tinkering but I got it to work using the manual configuration. The wizard was useless. I used an ip address from the same subnet as the orig. network (changed the default 192.168.0.50 to matching subnet). I gave the routers different ranges of dhcp addresses to use. The original router remains the gateway. And most importantly, I disabled auto channel scanning. After selecting the channel manually on the gateway router, the DAP-1360 automatically matched.
  • Pros: This router works very well if you can get it to work. Using as a standard router, it will work as expected. Offers a 5 bar signal where I was only getting 2 before. Acceptable added latency at an estimated 9-15 ms--important for gamers. Seamless integration with your existing network including netbios operation for Windows networking.
  • Cons: The documentation is practically useless for those using repeater mode. One gets the feeling that D-Link cut and pasted most of the info in the manual. Very little detail is offered on setting up in repeater mode. After finishing the wizard the log in screen no longer worked so if I didn't nail the config on the first try, I had to do a factory reset to try the set up wizard again, after which point the admin log in refused to work again. Even after getting the extend...

Set Up with XP if Possible!

John T., Newegg
30 August 2010
  • Summary: I spent hours trying unsuccessfully to set up this product with Windows 7 and was on the verge of returning it. The quick install guide featured screenshots of Windows 7 too small to view and either skipped or misinterpreted several steps in the process. As a last-ditch effort, I used a Windows XP laptop to set it up. Surprise, surprise -- relatively speaking, a piece of cake.
  • Pros: Relatively simple Windows XP setup process, small size, product flexibility
  • Cons: Horrible Windows 7 setup process, no physical manual, quick installation guide fails to provide any troubleshooting intelligence whatsoever
