Summary: Wish I'd seen all the other reviews before I bought this thing. I was just following the recommendations of the d-link people because I already had a d-link 655 router. I lost a couple days off my life on tech support with these people trying every possible thing to get it to work. At the end of it all, the recommendation was that my particular DAP 1360 must be defective and I should order another one. It was only then that I saw these reviews.
Summary: As an access point is not able to mantain connections from wireless clients. As an extender the results are un acceptable. I have invested hours trying to get this thing going but it just does not work Not a good product
Summary: I purchased this to serve as a repeater to my Linksys 610N. I am really surprised at the lack of documentation and the glitchiness of the equipment itself. The instructions for Windows 7 show Vista screenshots. Not a big deal - I know my way around network sharing on Windows 7. All the password issues mentioned in other reviews are correct... it is just plain bizarre behavior and can set you back during setup. That aside, the documentation has huge gaps in it.
Summary: The D-Link DAP-1360 is, in my opinion, a worthless piece of junk. My internet service provider recommended a D-Link Rangbooster N Dual Bank Router. I purchased one and installed it with no problem using a portable running Windows 7. Wireless reception from this wireless router was great, and the speedtest was very close to the speed I got by connecting directly to my computer's ethernet port.
Summary: I tried to use this is a range extender and failed miserably. Although I am adept at configuring cabled and wireless routers, this one was a stumper. Almost no useful online help. Considering that my router is D-Link (DIR-655) I expected this to work but it does not. I have returned this item to Amazon (simple and smooth), bought instead a D-Link DIR-628 wireless router, configured it as an Access Point (much better documented, basically disable DHCP and PnP) and I got...
Summary: I refused to believe the blogs about this product, shame on me. Spent some time with tech support to get it up and running...then it performed as indicated on the dlink blogs. Got a very strong signal, then within less than a minute it drops completely off to one bar rendering it uselss. I bought this product as a recommendation from dlink tech support because I'm using the dlink dir 655 router.
Summary: Executive summary: don't buy this product for use as a repeater, it's underpowered and provides a data rate only suited for light web browsing. At my home I have a DSL connection, router and NAS at one end of the house, a media center PC at the other end, and a number of wireless client devices throughout. I needed a good solution for wireless coverage that could handle enough data to play video, and a single AP at the router wasn't going to cut it.
Summary: I bought this device to provide expanded coverage of my D-LINK DIR-655 Wireless Router. I figured that it was made by D-LINK and there for would be compatible with another D-LINK product. I was wrong. I had read all the reviews and figured that the mixed reviews were indicative of a poor understanding of wireless networking concepts by the non-tech users. I was wrong. I am an IT professional and have found that this device fails to deliver to its specification.
