Excerpt: I bought this little wonder to connect my wife's computer to our home network because the computer didn't have a wireless connection. Plugged it into it's USB cradle and was connected right away. Great little adapter for the money.
Pros: Easy To Set Up, Fast, Fast Connection Speed, Reliable connection
Excerpt: After buying two other brands from Newegg I found this on sale at the same price as Newegg at Office Depot, so I bought it. I bought the additional warranty also. The first one lasted about twenty minutes it overheated, so I returned it. The second one has been working fine it was easy to set up and has been stable ever since.
Excerpt: The AE3000 has good range and throughput and is very easy to set up. However, it has one irritating flaw. To manage wireless connections in Windows 7 it uses that OS's native configuration utility. That utility, at least with the AE3000, does not allow the user to choose which channel to connect to if multiple channels are used with the same SSID.
Excerpt: The installation was very simple and fast. Everything worked the first time. One minor problem, when the computor is left on,falls asleep, the connection is lost and I have to "repair the connection".
Summary: As of July 2012, this USB adapter is probably the most powerful one in the market in terms of specs. It has dual band functionality and a 3x3 Antennae configuration giving it a speed up to 450Mbps (USB 2.0 has up to 480Mbps to give). In theory it should give a descent range - which it seems to (but not by much compared to a similarly spec'd laptop) and good speed for any LAN purposes.
Pros: Pretty solid performance for a USB powered WiFi adapter
Cons: Doesn't seem to like it when the computer comes back from sleep mode
