It works for me

Michael N., Newegg
19 February 2011
  • Summary: NA
  • Pros: It works. Admittedly, I was using a Firewire 400 device on it. But whatever.

Leopard Users Warning!

Robert A., Newegg
10 June 2008
  • Pros: For Mac OS 10.5 (Leopard) None
  • Cons: Belkin states that the card is compatible with OS 10.4 and above. They state the drivers come with the OS. However at least for Leopard the card has no drivers. Leopard recognized it as a firewire card but didn't have the drivers to run it. Don't by it, if you are looking for a firewire 800 card ...

F5U514: No power supply? Not to swift....

Ian N., Newegg
6 September 2007

No driver for Vista

Gerhard O., Newegg
4 September 2007

  • Cons: Vista does not support Firewire 800 out of the box, so you'll need a driver for it, at least not until the first service pack. The card does not come with a Vista driver. The driver that comes with XP does not work in Vista and will make your system unbootable if you try it. You'll have to start ...

What was Belkin thinking??

Marc M., Newegg
25 April 2007
  • Pros: None
  • Cons: The installation CD didn't have the installer mentioned in the product documentation, and installing the drivers for this card took more than 3 hours of work. The card also has a power port, which was not even mentioned in the documentation. Belkin doesn't sell a power supply for the card (12V, 1...
