Spend a bit more for a more reliable adapter

  • Summary: Bad experience with this one, unfortunately. Short review of the negatives: 1. Never got -ac speeds with this; maxxed out around 180 MB/s, and did check to make sure adapter and router were properly set up. Considering other USB adapter worked fine with -ac, unlikely it was on router or PC end. 2.

Must have to keep your tech modern.

  • Summary: Super speeds and has solo stand and thin laptop screen clip (note: thin- a thick, non Apple laptop may not fit it.) Be sure to disable your existing Wifi. Even though I have less signal power with 5ghz, the speed is faster. This is the fastest I have ever recorded on my laptop. I think it is close to wired speeds and at 5ghz, streams are much more stabler than at 2.4. One of the best computer buys/improvement ever.

Works great, just a small issue.

  • Summary: Device works as intended, but will never deliver advertised speeds. It does not work through a USB 3.0 port. USB 2.0 speeds are slower than the advertised AC network speed and network throughput will be limited.

  • Excerpt: Easy setup and great range - I expect nothing less from ASUS. Paired with an Asus RT-AC68U 802.11ac router it works flawlessly - the signal gets thru two 8 inch concrete walls and separated by a concrete floor.
  • Pros: Easy To Set Up, Fast, Fast Connection Speed, Reliable connection, Secure Connection

Buggy at best

  • Summary: Will not connect on one computer at 5GHz with 2 different routers that support 5Ghz, The 2nd computer I tried it on drivers freeze on startup after initial installation. No separate driver support that I found. Drivers are bundled with the software. Very disappointing for the price with little support. Asus at one time was a trusted brand but I would stay away from this adapter. Very pleased with the Netgear nighthawk router and the netgear WiFi 811.ac adapters.

Install experience with speed checks.

JR, Amazon

  • Summary: I have had an AC router for some time, the ASUS RT-AC66u. The router install improved my wireless 802.11n speed from 20mb to about 35mb. I was curious to see how well an AC connection would do. Install was easy, plugged it in, ran the driver disk, all done. About 2 minutes overall. The sign in page pops up. I point to the strongest connection, put in my PW and I'm all set.
