  • Summary: I went to put the router in and for the first time was great then it went down...I had to call my son-inlaw over to fix it and it took him an hour and a half to get this router up and going again. I don't think this router is for the average person.

  • Summary: The Router is easy to set up for basic use. However the quick start manual does not explain how to setup VPN, Print server, guest network. Asus support is limited to FAQ's, chat response is - severe weather has caused a shutdown - that was weeks ago so I really question if they even have a chat support service center. The software is just a basic router install utility.

Easy setup

  • Pros: Easy setup
  • Cons: Poor support for HP printer HP Photosmart C309A series with Windows Vista. Had I known that before installing, I would not have purchased the router.

I would like to return it.

  • Summary: The technical Support is very bad. Windows 8 and 7 can not access the router's VPN, but the win XP can. I contact the technical support, the answer is nothing. But the wireless signal is strong.

Not as good as they say it is

  • Summary: Overall it is an overpriced crap, it is good only if you have 1 or 2 devices top. Better buy something under 20euro, it will work better.
  • Pros: Nice interface
  • Cons: Multiple firmware bugs, network disconnects, every new firmware is saying problems fixed but not true

Nice features with a pretty face, but unreliable.

  • Summary: My last Asus power supply burned up my Asus motherboard, because of a well-known defect, and now this router will have to be replaced. I power my equipment through surge-protecting UPC's, and it's never abused. I expect my router to last more than a year before it starts misbehaving. So,no more Asus anything for me. A shame. Asus used to be a good solid brand.
  • Pros: True dual band, with numerous setup options for security, etc. Strong Wi-fi signal throughout my one-story home -- better by far than my previous D-Link router. Sleek shiny appearance. USB slot.
  • Cons: Asus quality control now seems to be lacking. I now need to reboot the router maybe three times a week to keep Internet access working for my WIRED network. The router just suddenly stops functioning, for no apparent reason, during normal browsing.

Not very Mac compatible

WirelessinSeattle, ABT Electronics

  • Summary: This router is #1 on many 'Best Router' lists. However, I found setup to be more than a hassle on my Mac. Sometimes the setup wizard would show and sometimes it wouldn't. When I finally got the networks set up, the 5GHz band was very unreliable. Switching to 2.4GHz didn't help much. Sent this back and got a Belkin N600 for half the price. Couldn't be happier.
  • Cons: Difficult To Set Up, Unreliable connection
