Asus support is poor. Good news is that the warranty is better ...

  • Summary: Everyone I know with this router has had problems with it. Asus support is poor. Good news is that the warranty is better than most- 2 years- which is good because likelihood of needing it is good. In my case the switch to turn it on stopped working. Asus customer support is poor: 1.

Terrible ping issues, latency, spiking, bad router

Seatown, Amazon
17 November 2014
  • Summary: I don't know if I got unlucky or what but I switched to this from a Linksys WRT54G that I have had for 12 ish years. I followed the instructions as the top reviewer suggested about channels etc, I've gone back to default, I've done everything but the router is worthless.

Amazon Customer, Amazon
27 July 2014
  • Summary: I really enjoyed having the latest and greatest Router while it lasted but it's packed up now after less than a year. I am out $200. Next time I buy a product like this I will make sure it has good reviews AND a proven track record, There certainly is a trend on ASUS networking products when looking...

Terrible support, terrible documentation, terrible config tool

worldsight, CNET
20 June 2014
  • Summary: Spent 5 hours hacking around with this router, the user interface is full of one way wizards and no simple way to undo any settings. Great for the basic "one modem, one wireless routing setup, but anytime you try to configure the router to work in an environment that's a little custom, forget it.

User Review

Jeremy_C, NCIX.com
20 April 2014
  • Summary: I bought this router because of the raving reviews. Maybe I have a dud, but this device has given me unsatisfactory performance, given the price. I'd be tolerant of these flaws for a $20-$50 router, but for this price, you expect things to be perfect.
  • Pros: Great range/speeds, when it's working.
  • Cons: Constant disconnects over wired connections. Large (~10 second) lag spikes over wifi, causing disconnections from games.

  • Summary: i bought this about a year ago and for the past month the router would all of sudden slowdown and then freeze and then i had to reboot the router. I don't down load a lot or connect a lot of devices to it so not sure what is causing this. i upgraded the firmware and still same issue.

Would be awesome if it could hold a connection to a cable modem.

Joshua Holden, Amazon
25 November 2013
  • Summary: I really wanted to give this more than 1 star because it DOES have a lot of nice features and it DOES perform excellent... when it's able to. I've had this for almost 2 months now every day it loses connection to the cable modem. I've updated the firmware and reset factory settings.

Non-existant customer service

Wyman, Amazon
21 November 2013
  • Summary: The top usb port failed during the first 6 months. The Asus repair center is a joke. I paid to ship it back to them, TWICE. After they shipped it back the second time, it still had the original bad usb port. It was obvious that the did NOT even attempt to repair the problem.
