  • Summary: I read many reviews and watched the set up videos before buying the RT N66U. Many of the reviewers were pleased with this product but a few had a horrendous experience. Unfortunately mine was the latter. This led me to the conclusion that Asus quality control leaves a lot to be desired.

  • Summary: I purchased this product after hours and hours of research and based on all the good reviews. My honest opinion based on trying the product for over 3 weeks is that the product is terrible. Please read the negative reviews carefully as they are all true.

Terrible support, terrible documentation, terrible config tool

worldsight, CNET

  • Summary: Spent 5 hours hacking around with this router, the user interface is full of one way wizards and no simple way to undo any settings. Great for the basic "one modem, one wireless routing setup, but anytime you try to configure the router to work in an environment that's a little custom, forget it.

  • Summary: I bought this router because of the raving reviews. Maybe I have a dud, but this device has given me unsatisfactory performance, given the price. I'd be tolerant of these flaws for a $20-$50 router, but for this price, you expect things to be perfect.
  • Pros: Great range/speeds, when it's working.
  • Cons: Constant disconnects over wired connections. Large (~10 second) lag spikes over wifi, causing disconnections from games.

Buggy And Difficult!

JJHuggins, Office Depot

  • Excerpt: I purchased two of these routers. Out of the box, both suggested a firmware update. One worked fine, but the other router froze during the update and went into "rescue" mode (on/off light slowly blinking).
  • Cons: Performance, Difficult to Use

  • Excerpt: I bought this router and attempted the setup yesterday. The "Quick" set up wizard will hardly even function. Tried on 3 different computers, without firewall and antivirus, different browsers...the web pages just hang forever.
  • Pros: How Would I Know
  • Cons: Difficult To Set Up

Question:- Already obsolete?

Dave, dabs.com
7 July 2013
  • Summary: I don't understand why an all-singing all-dancing product like this is offered for sale when the specification makes no mention that I can see of IPv6 support. Does it support IPv6? If not it's already obsolete. The last blocks of IPv4 addresses were assigned months ago. Would I buy one?
