Not a print server

quality seeker, Amazon
14 November 2010
  • Summary: As a router, it was easy to setup and worked fine. However, if you want to use it as a print server, do not buy it because it won't work as one.

Well, the second one works so far

Jerry Neely, Amazon
27 July 2010
  • Summary: The first RT-N13U I ordered simply did not work. I ran the configuration wizard and and it seemed to connect to the internet a couple of times but dropped the connection right away. I could not even connect locally (http) to the router to access the configuration menu.

Know what you are doing if you buy.

TransAmDave, Amazon
5 June 2010
  • Summary: I had high hopes for this router, but after 2 days, it was not working. I put it on repeater mode and got internet really well, but on regular mode it would not connect through my cable modem and I never got it to print. Had to send it back out of pure frustration.

OK as a Router, Otherwise Crap

RJ 760, Amazon
5 June 2010
  • Summary: I had very little trouble setting this device up as a router; it does a reasonable job in that regard. However, as a file or print server, it's a piece of junk. First I tried to set it up as a file server.

poor software

N. Pole, Amazon
5 June 2010
  • Summary: Hardware seems OK after 48 hours of use but the software is poor. There is no way to change the user name from the standard admin! You can change the password but not the user name. Discussed the issue with ASUS support and they said that was the way it was.

don't companies have any self respect?

Amazon Customer, Amazon
5 June 2010
  • Summary: I bought this router and set it up and it wouldn't let me use my network, or my internet connection. I update the firmware and I can use the internet and my network, but I find my external usb hd wont work with it it has to be in FAT or a Linux filesystem format, FAT supports partitions up to 32GBs...

Poor software/Vista incompatibility(fixed)

Steve Lin, Amazon
5 June 2010
  • Summary: I got this to replace a D-link that Windows Vista was having intermittent issues with. Unfortunately, it could not connect to Vista at all in secured mode. D-link at least could connect initially. Of course my Macs all works fine, so maybe it's a Vista issue after all.

Buggy Router

@TrevorHikes, Amazon
5 June 2010
  • Summary: I know a lot of folks have issues with routers and much of the time the problem is with the user but in this case the problem is the router firmware. After using this router for the last three months on a network with a Roku, a Sony Blu-ray, XBox 360 and numerous computers I have to say the bugs are...

Problems with WPA on set-up - experienced user

Amazon Customer, Amazon
5 June 2010
  • Summary: Unit worked well wirelessly as long as security was set to none or WEP. As soon as I set it to WPA, I was able to connect to the router but not the internet. Normally, this is an incompatibility between Vista wireless adaptor and router firmware. I updated both to no avail.

too hard to set up

poodlepower007, Ebay
9 August 2012
  • Summary: this router is very difficult to set up -- the info that comes with it refers to online set up, but doesn't actually tell you how to get to the website and what to do when you get there--- I actually haven't managed to get it going at all yet and I've had it a couple of weeks-- I keep avoiding...
