Cons: Everything. Worst router that I had ever known. Won't connect to internet..UI disappeared. Listen to the crowd. After returned 2 times and tried 3 different routers just to confirm that this is garbage They kept sending you bad router until you give up..I just have to keep my old router.
Pros: I bought this with the intention of putting my AT&T U-verse router/modem combo into bridged mode and using this as my primary router (since the Motorola NVG510 they provided me with is sketchy), with a 3rd router (Linksys WRT54G) as a wireless bridge for some wired machines on the 2nd fl of my house. These 3 things led me to choose this router: wireless N, USB support for cell carriers, and DD-WRT support.
Cons: Doesn't work. Tried 2 devices, laptop and desktop. Whether I have my machines set w/ static IP or DHCP, neither way recognizes the router at it's address: 192.168.1.1. Reset router several times. Thought maybe it needed a reset to factory defaults, that didn't work either. I've heard good things about this model, but the refurb'd units seem to be having issues. I'll get it RMA'd I guess, but I don't have the warm fuzzies about getting another refurb.
Pros: Specs are good, would be a decent router if it worked.
Cons: Refurb'ed router from Newegg was just packaged in a whitebox. It was not tested or re-initialized to default FW. It took a while to recover the firmware and finally have access. After one day running as repeater, it started to power off immediately every 2-3 mins. Asus support was OK to assign an RMA. I paid for the shipment, no big deal. 10 days later, got another white box refurb. Same deal, not tested or restored to factory default settings, locked with a password....
Summary: Second one worked like a charm for about three days. Then it started acting weird, instead of repeating the same SSID, it made a new network, but still worked if you connected to the new network. Then, a few days later, it stopped working altogether.
Pros: Fantastic router/repeater when it works. I seriously don't think there is a better router on the market for the money, but buy it new, don't mess with these refurbs.
Cons: I'm not sure they're really even testing these. I've bought two of them and they were utter junk. First one barely worked at all, I could barely get it to display the setup page after numerous resets. Wouldn't work at all in router or repeater mode.
Cons: wont even turn on. plug it into the power adapter and nothing happens. did not get any of the other hardware that the description shows. no cable, not disc, only a lame manual that says plug part A into part B. i will definitely be contacting newegg about this especially since other people say they have had the same problems with this item.
Summary: SIX hours of screwing around with this thing and I still don't know for sure if it was DOA or just a piece of crap. I've set up many networks in the past and I know how to set IPs and SSIDs and all that basic stuff. It's not that complicated. Well, this thing just wouldn't see my cable modem for anything. I called my ISP and I updated the firmware and rebooted everything in a dozen different orders and this router was totally uncooperative.
