Summary: Don't buy this unless your video card has a HDMI port. If it doesn't, you won't be able to stream movies unless you change your card. My old XP Dell computer does not have a HDMI port, only USB ports. I tried to get around that by using a USB to HDMI converter. No joy, didn't work. The ASUS tech rep told me that USB does not carry video, so I got sound, but no picture. I confirmed this by hooking my computer up by a long USB cable to my HDTV and got sound but no video.
Summary: For reference, I am using this to pipe a Dish HD receiver to a 720p 37" LCD about 25'-30' away with a couple of walls in between. Setup is super easy. Plug in both ends, wait 10-20 seconds, and everything worked great. I am not using this as intended, I have a couple of walls in between the transmitter and receiver. I also have an AT&T microcell and a dual band 802.11n router sitting next to the transmitter (not sure if either would affect it).
Summary: I had hoped that this product could be used to tie two tv's to one cable box so that the sound etc would coordinate between two rooms, and without the need to run long HDMI cables. The problem is that the unit has very limited range. Reception really needs line-of-sight installation as going through a wall greatly reduced performance, even when the receiver and transmitter were within 10 feet of each other.
Summary: Had to ship this back to Amazon, I have a ceiling mount projector and was planning on using this and drop the HDMI wire. Unfortunately after hours of attempting experiments, I had a hard time establishing any kind of signal consistently unless the transmitter and receiver are withing 6 feet line of sight of each other. Tried resolution 720p, 1080i and 1080p but no luck in any cases.
Summary: I know the item said only 30 feet line of sight but it seems really limited unless you are in the same room. To give you an example of the range: I have a two story home with a basement; it is wood and drywall construction. My PS3, DirectTV, and Computer are all in the basement and I would like to watch them on my second floor TV in the bedroom. The second floor TV is directly above my equipment in the basement so about 20-25 feet through two wood floors.
