I am using this unit as AP connect via Ethernet cable to my Netgear CG3000 Router/Switch/AP. Everything is Gigabit and 802.11N/G. This AP is giving me throughput around 200MB/sec.
The only downside is the manual. You can throw this in the bin. To set the unit up is easy when you know how. Plug the unit into your PC via Ethernet. Check the address on the side of the unit (mine was 10.0.1.1 - this is probably standard). Configure your PC Ethernet to the same network e.g. 10.0.1.5 255.0.0.0. Then open up your web browser and put the URL in as 10.0.1.1. A/C Admin. Password Admin. Presto you the EA-N66 web interface is simple to use. You could read the manual now if you want the screen captures do make sense but it is pretty … self-explanatory. The unit starts by default as an Ethernet adapter. In the Administration vertical tab you can select the mode. Note once in AP mode, the unit will get it’s IP via DHCP from your router. You might need to look at your router LAN IP list to figure out how to connect into the EA-N66 to change anything. The only other things I changed were my SSID and my admin password.
I am very happy with the ASUS EA-N66 performance so far.
