Summary: All those folk who say this thing is good are certainly a lot luckier than me! Mine utterly refused to work - not the first piece of defective Asus kit I have had the misfortune to purchase, but it will be the last. it was also delivered with no packaging other than it's own display box, so my return will be travelling equally naked. If the sellers can't be bothered to take measures to ensure safe delivery, then why should I?! Rubbish.
Summary: I read several reviews of comparable T-Link, Asus, Netgear to try to find a good router to replace our aging BT Home Hub2.... I noticed that whilst *all* the makes had a majority of great reviews thay also *all* seemed to have a significant minority of useless ratings. So corossed my fingers and ordered this one..... Sadly I think I was unlucky after movig three devices to the landing (our router is in the loft!!
Summary: Spent lot of time trying to get this working and then gave up. The ADSL light kept blinking indicating sync problem. My old ADSL modem works with no problem on the same line. The router software does not give any options to manually configure or check anything. It just stops at "phone line not connected". I also have ASUS RT N66U and the router software on it is very good with loads of configuration options. N55U does not have a WAN port which is another minus.
Summary: This was purchased to add 5GHz support that the otherwise excellent Billion 7800n lacks. Sadly the 5GHz signal is so poor as to be unusable unless standing next to the router. 2.4GHz is also some 5-10dB down on the Billion as measured with inSSIDer. Asus' official forums suggest that the wifi signal was significantly reduced by a firmware update. So this may explain why early reviews praised it.
Summary: Spent half a morning trying to connect this router to the O2 ADSL network, without success. The automated login script is written for morons, as you can't change anything afterwards, but need to re-type every single detail every time. In desperation, called the help line, where the automated system after taking you through a slew of menus, ends with "send us an email, we promise to answer" and hangs up. Now that's what I call customer service !!!

Tästä seuraa, etten pysty tietämään, onko laitteessa vikaa (takuuseen) vai ainoastaan asetusten hankaluus. Aikaisemmat Asuksen verkkolaitteet ovat olleet helposti asennettavissa.
