Summary: I have a unique? situation in my vacation home. My neighbor lets me use his WIFI (Verizon FIOS). I put this repeater at the edge of my living room on top of a breakfront (antenna is hidden). I then plugged in my ooma phone directly into the repeater, and also have wifi in the far reaches of my home.
Summary: I came here to look at purchasing a new router when I came across this. I was suspicious that the problem I was having with a weak signal/signal dropping wasn't necessarily from my router itself but because of where it is connected to the cable modem. I went with Repeater instead.
Summary: Ive only used one other extender, but it and this one are worlds apart. The first one I had worked fairly well, but I was pulling my hair out setting it up. I'm not a computer expert, but I'm not a novice either. This Amped extender could not be any easier to setup.
Summary: I does extend my network coverage. As much as I would like. UMMMMMMM maybe. The repeater did not live up to the distance that I hoped for. Remember you still have to be fairly near your original router to get a good enough signal to repeat.
Amped Smart Repeater Simply The Best Repeater for Power and Reliability
12 December 2013
Summary: The Amped Smart Repeater is the best that I've used and most reliable. Remember it's a wireless repeater with 10000 ft radius and is very powerful and can be extended with optional antennas, cable conversions, and amplifiers to improve signal.
Summary: When working, performed as promised and produced a strong signal throughout the house. I did send the repeater back as it kept dropping the wireless signal. Apparently, sometimes it's necessary to set your basic router in ways not immediately obvious to a non-techie likie myself.
