Summary: I bought this product to use with my Raspberry Pi as a long range penetration testing tool. There are much smaller versions of wireless cards for both the Pi and any computer. The reason you would want the Alfa is for long range uses.
Summary: This is plug & play with Windows 8.1. I plugged it in and within seconds it came up as "WiFi 2". The reason that I bought it was to access a wifi hot spot at my aunts house. Summary: One-here, is a retired Electrical Engineer. The application that this unit is used in, was it is located inside a Motor Home, installed using the Supplied Suction Cup Mount, to the inside of an RV Window.
Summary: I use this primarily as a TCP/IP learning aid using Kali Linux / Backtrack (Linux operating systems, for those uninitiated), and I could not be happier. Not only does this adapter have extended range, but it also speeds up my connections and download speeds.
Summary: This wireless adaptor was sent to me (free of charge) so that I could provide an honest and unbiased review. First I plugged it in to my desktop (Windows 7 64 Bit Ultimate, fully updated) and the drivers installed fine. Windows saw it and installed some.
Summary: This initially worked great for my purposes. I am using it to connect from my office computer to my home router which is about 100' away. Everything worked as I had hoped for about 3 months. I had nearly a full signal and speeds were good.
