Summary: I recently purchased a Vinotemp VT-12TEDS-2Z from Craigslist. The lower zone did not work. I removed the back and found the lower fan was not moving and was full of dust and lint. After cleaning it, it was still stiff to turn. The blade on these little fans should spin freely. Removing four screws holding the fan to the cooling fins, I released the fan from the cooling fins.
Really great wine fridge - shockingly good for the price!
7 February 2014
Summary: We've had three different wine fridges in our kitchen in the past 7 years…one was cheap (lasted a year) one was expensive (lasted 3 years) and one died almost right away. This fridge got good reviews and figured it was worth a try b/c the price was fair. It is a really good looking, well made fridge! The handle is substantial - metal like the outer frame (others I've bought were cheap plastic and cracked). The wooden shelves are removable and adjustable, which is great.
Summary: I purchased this because my wife wanted a wine fridge and she found this. Price was good and with Prime shipping I couldn’t say no. To say the least I read the reviews after purchasing it and was a bit scared and almost canceled. To say the least it’s been running strong so far, both temps are fairly accurate. The only thing that bothers me is it’s a bit loud. The fans are noisy at night and I can hear them from about 20 feet away.
Summary: Purchased a Vinotemp wine cooler 84 bottle dual zone. There warranty is 3 months and after one year the cooling system failed. I ordered 4 new computer boards that control the cooling. Every month Vinotemp said the parts have been shipped and I am still waiting 9 months and they have no idea if and when they will receive the parts. This wine cooler is worthless. Vinotemp is the worst company I have ever dealt with, they do not stand behind their product of service.
Summary: This particular wine cellar was extremely quiet, is not overly large, will fit 12 normal size bottles (or just a little less with bigger bottles) and just looks good. Since I do not necessarily always have 12 bottles in stock at home, the size of the bottles do not affect me that much. As to the shelves sliding all the way out, again..
Summary: After less than 1.5 years the control panel went blank and the top zone quit working. I read the reviews and didn't believe it could be that bad so I bought it anyway...it is that bad, don't waste your money.
Summary: Hey, the ratings are correct. I bought two of the 12 and 1 of the 21-bottle units. The 12-bottle units each barely made it to the 1-year point, before shorting out. The 21-bottle unit almost did 2 years, before expiring. Thankfully, I had learned my lesson; and, purchased an extended warranty, for it. Recommend you consider the same. Vinotemp units look great; and, work well, initially........
Summary: I purchased this unit because it looks very nice. Brushed aluminum and a blue digital readout. 9 months after I receive the unit the lower zone went out.I called Vino-temp and they informed me that I needed a circuit board that cost $50. I ordered one and installed it and it worked again.1 year after I purchase the unit the upper zone went out and its been sitting now for 2 years with only the lower zone (6 bottles) working though I have to say the repaired lower zone is...
Summary: I bought this unit a few years back. Worked well for about a year or so and then the unit died mysteriously one day. I called Vinotemp, they told me that they thought it was most likely a burnt out motherboard. I could purchase one for 40 bucks but the part was non-refundable. I decided to take a a chance and after a little soldering, the unit came back to life. It actually worked well for another year and when I noticed that the temp was up to 78 one day.
Summary: This appliance has got to be made just to be a cash cow for vinotemp. Just big enough so that you can't send it back without spending a ton and just cheap enough that you will say ahh screw it and just dump it. This is easy . . . D O N ' T B U Y. . . unless you are just using it to decorate a model home, because it does look cool with the led lights and the wood shelves. BTW I seem to be one of the lucky ones as mine still works, the temp cannot be set above 42 degrees.
