The video game Zack and Wiki: Quest for Barbaros’ Treasure is categorized as a point-and-click adventure game which you can use for Wii unit game play.. This game raised some controversy after using an Islamic prayer as a background sound in its promotional video. Otherwise though, the Zack and Wiki game has received critical acclaim, especially with regards to its uniqueness and the controls used for game play. UK fans seemed more receptive to this game though.

The storyline of this game is that Zack and Wiki joined a new pirates’ gang known as “The Sea Rabbits.” Since only one player can play the part of Zack, this game can only be played via single-player mode. Wiki is Zack’s friend but also has his uses, like when Zack wants to change his enemies into usable things, Zack just has to shake Wiki. It needs the Wii Remote to play.

Review Summary

Zack and Wiki is the story of two pirates in search of the legendary treasure of the pirate Barbaros. It is an adventure of Zack, (You) and his golden monkey, Wiki, who can transform into a bell to de-curse treasures and turn enemies into useful objects. Their hunt sends them on a series of mini-episodic puzzles through jungle ruins, frozen temples, castles, an airship and more. The puzzles start easy but soon become challenging with a cunning legendary pirate, who maybe has some psychic powers. Zack and Wiki is a game that goes beyond expectations. A point and click adventure game on the Wii, with stunning graphics. Your mission is to find the rest of the pieces of Barbados’ very shiny skeletal body, to be rewarded with his treasure and the legendary ship that Barbados sailed. The only complaint about this game is that some of the puzzles are mostly trials and errors, rather than logic to work out how to get at the shiny treasure box. Most of the levels consist of only a single screen, riddled with many little puzzles, or in with smaller levels, one more complicated puzzle. The puzzles can be quite tough sometimes. As the graphics are meant to appeal to little kids, puzzles most certainly do not. Even experts can become confused. All of the puzzles are based on applying the right items to the correct objects, with the Wii Remote. Your controller becomes the object to be manipulated correctly to solve the puzzles.
