Summary: As I dust off my wii I think about the last great RPG that I got excited about on a Nintendo console and I have to think a long way back to Tales of Symphonia which took me 7 years to complete although I wish I never stopped playing it. Xenoblade sounded amazing and was one of those games that caught my eye the first time I caught wind of it in Japan and then the exciting news that it was being released into the UK.
Summary: Plenty of reviews on here already, and I have little to add, as I agree with the majority of them - Xenoblade is a real treat, and good value, providing over 100 hours of gameplay. That it does this by presenting hundreds of monster-slaying, widget-fetching and talking sidequests is a fair point, and it can feel a bit like an endless set of small tasks at times.
Conclusion: Ever since seeing the teaser trailers a year or so ago I thought Xenoblade would only get a release in Japan. How shocked I was to see it getting a release date for Europe and not even in the US!
Conclusion: This is one of those games that really isnt being done justice by nintendo's woefully weak consol. However, even with that said, this game is damn right awesome. To be honest it would be a waste of your, the readers, time to say what has already been said in praise of this game by the other reviewers here.
Conclusion: It's September 2011 and the game is sold out practically everywhere. Nintendo had no idea how well this game would perform and as a result underestimated its demand in Europe. A combination of pleasing critics across the board and fantastic gamer reviews has created a huge surge in sales, which means it will be some weeks, perhaps even months before everyone who wants a copy of this game gets one as Nintendo hurriedly creates more copies, but is it worth the wait?
Conclusion: After hunting high and low for this game I was forced to pay over the odds from somewhere else but I can't say I was too bothered - this game is probably one of the best I've played on the Wii - it's very much in the style of the Final Fantasy games. Graphics are good (for the Wii) and gameplay is easy to pick up. If you own a Wii and like FF games - then dust it off and buy this game - you wont regret it.
Conclusion: Nintendo created a masterpiece. The best JRPG you will ever play. So emotional, the narative is fantastic and the gameplay is flawless. Had this been released on a hd console, not a single person would care about skyrim. This is a feat of gaming. Buy it. Now.
Conclusion: This is a wonderful game. I have played many RPG's in my time, but none have come close to this in depth and immersion. I am 100 hours in and still not finished, so many side quests and exploring keep it going on for ages, but not in a dragged out sort of way. If you own a Wii, this is a must buy!
