Summary: My problem with WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 is that, it's been YEARS, and still not many changes to the gameplay have been made. It's all been done before, so there's no more originality left to the series. You can play as all your favorite stars in more quality games released years before this one. I also hate the fact many moves have been taken out. To me, that's wrong on so many levels.
Summary: This game seems great at first, with being able to choose your own 'destiny' and matches, but quickly becomes the same old routine. Pick a wrestler and win, pick another, win. Make a rivalry, wrestle them and destroy them. Far too boring to own. I feel I wasted my $8.49 renting this game. There is no story line what so ever.
Summary: The Bad: They took a lot of matches and modes out. You can basically only wrestle single, tag, triple threat, and a couple others. The season mode has essentially NO storylines. You just challenge guys to matches or they challenge you until you get the "Legend" rank. Matches are very short. The Good: Graphics and weapons are cool. It's fun using the Wii remote to do the moves (even if they don't vary a lot from wrestler to wrestler). The roster is pretty complete.
WWE SMACKDOWN VS RAW - BALANCED REVIEW, NOT THE BEST GAME TO BUY!
20 June 2009
Excerpt: "after reading a few reviews and watching in-game videos, i came to see that this game was the perfect game to buy. so i bought the game from play.com for £10. when it arrived, i opened it up and started to play it. But within the first 5minutes my wrist was already aching. the graphics were great and so were the litrtle extras the wii offered, but there were no obvious controls, like the ones you'd find on the PS3 or XBOX. 2-player mode builds up ...
Pros: Good graphics, wiimote pciks up actions well and represents them on - screen
Cons: very tiring, especially when u have to shake the remote when u fall over . Bad controls
Excerpt: "The popular SVR franchise arrives on Wii, and in my opinion they shouldn't have bothered. To be fair they worked hard on the gameplay and incorperating the new wii controls to make something pretty special, but the cost to introducing this was high. The game fails to deliver on so many levels, there are very few match types and you are restricted to how much you can actually do with your superstar. If you shop around you can get it cheap and the cheaper ...
Conclusion: This game is way behind other formats as it loses so many features in the quest for a new fun control system for wii. Its not a complete waste of time as it can be fun to play for short periods but has no long term one player appeal at all.
Conclusion: This game is fun for the first hour or so, then you realise how limited it is! In two player mode the types of match you can play are terrible, there isnt even a cage match option let alone hell in a cell or tables match! there is however a hardcore match option, the only problem with this being that the only weapon avalible to use is a chair!
Conclusion: We can all imagine what a wwe game should be like on the wii. With punching and lifting up the remote to lift up the oponents,BUT NO!They are wanting you to swing the wii remote about like a baby and it will get frustrating when it dosent respond to the mindlessly waving you will do.I gave it 2*'s because despite all the abuse its fun to get a mate round(like all wii games)and wrestle each other because you will both have a good time!
Excerpt: "WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2008 on the Wii is a disappointment, to say the least. I myself am a WWE fan, but this game does not exactly fill me with excitement. Firstly, there are only 5 match types, while the PS3 and Xbox etc. get many more including Hell in a Cell and Ironman. Also, the lack of weapons is appalling. Take the Hardcore matches, for example. WWE has plenty of weapons, such as tables, ladders etc., and THQ only puts steel chairs in the Wii ...
Pros: New controls system (the Wii Remote), taunts and wrestlers .
Cons: A little too easy in some parts, enjoyable for a few weeks - 1 1/2 months then gets a little boring .
Summary: Its great fun with the Wii & everything. But as for the new season mode it is Terrible! Your limited to the moves you can do as well overall the most dissappointing attempt in the series of games
