A challenge to master

Summary: This game takes a lot of practice to get used to the controls. In skiing, you will crash a lot until you figure out how to turn through the gates. The sliding sports are easier to master and a fast time comes fairly quickly. Figure skating is a mystery - not easy to coordinate the movements of the controllers with the icons on the screen. The other sports are a matter of timing to get high points.
Summary: I have only spent about two hours with this game so far, but it is quite difficult. The downhill skiing takes quite a bit of practice to just get down the mountain. The bobsledding/luge doesn't give the player a lot of feedback on what one should be doing to perform better. The controller vibrates when you bump the sides but there are no visual queues to respond to. The curling is out and out confusing. After 15 minutes I couldn't figure out how to even toss a stone.
Summary: Some aspects of this game are good: nice graphics, funny commentators, variety of games. However, if you are not adept at doing different things with each hand at the same time, it can be frustrating. The motions needed for turning/steering are very, very subtle and sometimes pretty intricate, so there is a steep learning curve.
Conclusion: This is a tough game to review given that I can't really say I liked it and can't really say that I didn't either. After playing the excellent Sonic/Mario Olympic Games I ws looking forward to a slighly more mature slant of the same genre. Gone are the quirky characters to be replaced by virtual humans and this is not a bad thing as you feel far more involved say than trying to pretend you are a turtle for example.
Conclusion: Not as great as I expected with all the positive reviews. Curling I find very tedious, and figure skating pointless, although I have mastered the Cross Country Skiing so I like that! The commentary is amusing it doesn't take itself seriously, with jolly banter and jibes. The game play can be difficult to get to grips with, but once you crack it, you'll be ok.
Summary: Winter Sports: The Ultimate Challenge riprende le olimpiadi invernali del 2008.
