Wii Play (Wii) - Review

VGChartz
18 August 2009
  • Excerpt: Nintendo launched the Wii way back on November 19th 2006, and on the very next day it became apparent that motion controls were here to stay. Wii Sports showed to both the old generation and the new school what the future of games would play like, with it’s easy to pick up and play nature and great party game atmosphere; in short it was a hit.

Party game for two isn't as good as Wii Sports.

Common Sense Media
23 March 2008
  • Summary: Parents need to know that these minigames for the Wii aren't as much fun as those found in Wii Sports , the game that was introduced with the system. And disappointingly, these games can only be played by two people instead of four. The only minigame that may raise an eyebrow for parents is the Shooting Range game. But it's simply point-and-shoot target practice involving balloons, clay pigeons, soda cans, and even UFOs.

Wii Play review

Wii's World
19 June 2007
  • Conclusion: "Wii Play" is in no way an epic or deep game. Even compared to a title like "Wii Sports", it has the depth of a baby pool. Still, for $10 plus the price of a Wii remote, I think that the game is worth picking up. The game has a very slick, cartoony presentation to it. The visuals aren't going to blow any minds, but they are warm and welcoming to the casual crowd that "Wii Play" is so obviously targeted at.

Wii Play

GameTrailers
16 February 2007
  • Excerpt: With its revolutionary new controller, the Wii seems to have limitless potential, but what developers have spent the most time doing so far is collecting a bunch of ideas into packages of simple minigames. While they’re great at helping you wrap your head around the new controls, they ultimately leave you with an empty feeling due to their limited stamina.

Wii Play Review

GameSpot
14 February 2007
  • Summary: Few of the nine minigames that make up Wii Play have much staying power.
  • Pros: Makes good, pervasive use of Miis, Comes as pack-in with Wii Remote
  • Cons: Lack of structure, most minigames are novel for only a short time, good minigames are hurt by a lack of gameplay options
