Excerpt: I went into Wario Land: Shake It! with high expectations. Wario is a cool anti-hero, easy to love precisely because he’s such a greedy rascal. Good-Feel, the developer behind the title, is the same team that subsequently handled Kirby’s Epic Yarn , also for Wii.
Excerpt: The only Wario games I’ve ever played are his extremely fun minigame compilations, so I didn’t really know what I letting myself in for when booting-up Wario Land for the first time. I’ve always had a “thing” for 2D platformers, but does this game live up to my expectations?
Conclusion: Wario Land: Shake It! may have given you the same initial assumptions I had before playing the game. Its gimmick sounding title smells of the gimmicky motion controlled games of which the Wii has been plagued.
Excerpt: Wario Land: Shake It! Genre: Platformer Developer: Good-Feel Publisher: Nintendo Release Date: Sept. 22, 2008 Have you heard the news? Nintendo isn’t making games anymore. At least not real games for studly hardcore gamers like you and me.
Summary: Wario Land: Shake It! is a classic side-scroller for the Wii starring Wario, the smelly, bad-mannered alter ego of Mario. With the Wii Remote controller turned sideways like an old-school controller, veterans and newcomers alike can run, jump and smash their way through hectic side-scrolling stages.
Excerpt: Wario is one of Nintendo's second-tier characters, a gassy, villainous Not-Mario clad in yellow and purple. He's starred in a fair number of releases over the years, particularly the fantastic WarioWare minigame collections. Nintendo's newly released Wario Land: Shake It!
Conclusion: All-in-all, this is Nintendo’s only big title for the hardcore audience this year. While Nintendo played dumb with their E3 conference, they were wise to pick Good Feel to represent Wario Land and I’m glad the production values of Shake It are somewhat higher than usual.
Conclusion: Mit Wario Land: Shake It!
