Summary: I don't understand why the first level is the dog flying the plane helping the Carl and Russel? They don't meet him in the game until something like level three or four. And you don't see the Blimp/Villian until well later in the game...the second level on you are carrying the house along the terrain. That should be the first level.
Summary: My almost 5-year-old is in love with this game. However, I was hoping that it would be one that she could be fairly independent with. The reasoning skill that is required for this game does not match the age group in which the movie itself was intended for. The airplanes are very difficult for her. I had to get through that level, which also happens to be the first level. The snake part (I think level 4 or 5) is even more difficult. She gave up immediately.
Summary: I, too, rented this game before chunking out $[...] for it. As mentioned above, the biplane battle is freakishly hard...even for parents! After you defeat that, if you arent so angry and frustrated and want to quit, it gets fun. My 6yo and 4yo play together and it helps with reading, teamwork and problem solving. I agree, it should not be this hard to play for a kids game.
Summary: My son is 5 years old and loves airplanes. He has mastered the nunchuck and Wii control with other games like Heatseeker, Blazing Angels, etc. Even with his experience he had a hard time in the beginning navigating through the first level of the Up game. The first night he got frustrated and gave up. The second day, he gave it another shot and was able to get to the next level (I think with a little help from dad).
Summary: Up is pretty good. My son is 6 years old and we play together. The airplane dogfight was not bad at the beginning. You can hold down the trigger for rapid fire, which made it much easier. Unlimited ammo. After that, you can play as Russell and Carl as you go through jungle paths. The jungle has a lot of obstacles that you have to figure out how to get passed. The characters give you hints. One example is a short cliff that is too high for Carl to climb.
