Trauma Center: Second Opinion (Wii) Review

411mania.com
26 January 2008
  • Excerpt: Upon hearing that the Wii version of Trauma Center would actually be more of a Wii-make than a true sequel, I was a bit disappointed. At the same time, being a huge fan of the DS version I decided to take on Trauma Center: Second Opinion as if I hadn't played it before. After spending a few hours as Dr. Stiles I came away knowing that I had just played one of the best Wii launch titles.

  • Conclusion: THE VERDICT: A joy to play and a must for all fans of quirky games. With the new missions, tools and control method, this should even entice those DS owners who already have Under The Knife. Simply inspired.

  • Excerpt: Things start off rather easy. In the first few surgeries, the nurse tells you exactly what to do every step of the way. Start an incision, add the magical antibiotic gel that makes everything better, put on a bandage, etc. While there is a timer in these early levels, they are rather easy and serve as a great introduction to how the game works. Your right hand holds the Wii remote and represents your in-game hand.

  • Excerpt: Being a surgeon is damn tiring. Aching fingers and wrist, strained shoulder, squinting eyes. No wonder the big bucks are there for saving people, although it’s all going to be spent on physiotherapy in the end. Those who have played Trauma Center: Under The Knife on the NDS will be familiar with the proceedings and of the pain – both physically and mentally – that this game can bring.

  • Conclusion: Ultimately, Trauma Center: Second Opinion is a fun experience for Wii owners. If you're looking for a unique experience on your Wii, or even enjoyed the first Trauma Center, TC:SO is a good bet. There is enough freshness with the Wii-mote to warrant a second round for Second Opinion.

  • Excerpt: Part follow-up, part evolution of already-unique gameplay, Trauma Center Second Opinion puts surgical tools on your hands and dares you to not invite a lawsuit. Nothing a stiff drink wouldn't not fix. Yes, that's a double negative.
