Don't Chase This Dragon
22 September 2009
Excerpt: I can now see why purple dragons are associated with drug use. In this final installment of the Legend of Spyro series, the player's quest to rid the world of the evil takes a backseat to the tireless battle against the game itself. The longer you play it, the more it breaks and aggravates. Your AI partner has a knack for getting stuck on geometry. The framerate chugs and audio skips rear their ugly heads far too often.
Excerpt: Spyro, the friendly dragon hero, has been around since the early days of the Sony PlayStation. It has always been hailed as a unique and original premise. There simply aren’t many dragon hero games out there worth playing. Enter Dawn of the Dragon, this year’s Wii entry to the series, and the third of the Spyro trilogy. Much of the style and content from the previous entries is here, but so are some hitches that hold this game back from what it could have been.
The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon (Wii) Review
5 January 2009
Excerpt: The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon is a competent, but unimaginative conclusion to the Legend of Spyro trilogy. It is technically excellent, features great art direction and superb audio, but suffers with mediocre gameplay, overly simple puzzles and a generic, recycled narrative. Aimed at children, it is most often quite light-hearted, but it does explore some deeper themes of friendship, trust, and good and evil.
Wii/PS3/X360 Preview - 'The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon'
7 May 2008
Summary: In the culmination of the trilogy, players find Sypro teaming up with an unlikely ally - Cynder, his former enemy, to face his most challenging mission to date. As the Dark Master’s evil envelopes the world like a plague, Spyro must fulfill his destiny and unlock the true power of the purple dragon within him to stop the Dark Master in his tracks.
Excerpt: Spyro the Dragon has had some ups and downs over the years, more recently it has been on the downs with this new revamped trilogy not really taking hold as the games of old did. Does DoD change all that?
