Review Summary
The Godfather Blackhand Edition is an open-world crime game with a related story and lots of superfluous violence. Blackhand is an important game for the Wii. Although the Wii version looks better than the PS2 version, it isn’t as sharp as its XBOX 360. Blackhand’s controls are better and more accurate. Blackhand Edition for Wii features hand-to-hand fighting moves that can be useful. A thrust of the hand has the character doing same, moving your hand across your body will cause a catch. Holding the B and Z buttons will hold characters enabling you to punch with your free hand, propel opponents against the wall, hold them over ledges, smash them into nearby objects or throw them away. Executions and strangulations can also be performed by certain actions. There are weapons in the game, baseball bats, bottles and guns for example. Guns are easy to use. A few players found that the character models are excellent though the environments are not impressive. Traveling from one neighborhood to another and between external and indoor environments can be done with no loading. They found the voice-acting, perfect but not enough music to support a game of this size. Blackhand’s presentation is first-class and the controls are brilliant. The menus are straight forward, and the characters and voices are very slick. The negative impact is that the game is quite violent.

Overall, the game was a great special update for the Wii and has really fun gameplay with the whole intuitive motion-sensing for different styles of attacks. The RPG elements make you want to get the most respect you can out of every mission and the amount of additions to the Wii version are quite substantial. Overall, the game is a great mobster game that everyone has to try if they liked The Godfather movies. Read more

Electronic Arts is not well known for releasing Mature rated video games. With Paramount's classic mobster film, The Godfather, you can't get much more Mature than that. As the largest single project in EA history up to its release in March 2006 on PS2 and Xbox, the company put a lot of time and money into making The Godfather a worthy purchase. The reaction, however, was tepid. The game placed fifth on the charts in March 2006 on the PS2 and the Xbox version dropped ... Read more

The storyline of the game comes right from the movie series for most of the missions. To sum up the plot, you will be playing as a character whose father got shot by a rival family years before. The game drops you in at the wedding scene from the movie, where Don Corleone is given the task of looking after you—thus you become his recruit. Long story short, you’ll be working for him and trying to heighten your status in the Corleone family. The Godfather games ha... Read more

With new releases being a bit thin on the ground for the Nintendo Wii, it's heart-warming to see games as good as The Godfather Blackhand Edition arriving on the console. Whilst the game doesn't differ much at all from previous versions of the game it does embrace the unique Wii control scheme quite nicely. That said however, it's a shame the game doesn't look better and if you've played a previous version of The Godfather then there's nothing here, aside from the co... Read more

EA have done Wii owners a great favour by giving The Godfather: Blackhand Edition the treatment that they have, and so if you haven’t already it would be nice to return it with a favour of your own by giving it a purchase (assuming that some of you have already – it has been a few months, afterall). Having seen this, we’re very much looking forward to more free-roaming games of this style on Wii, and it wouldn‘t hurt for other developers to take these controls and run... Read more

Quite a good game but doesn`t have the insomnia inducing factor that a truly great game has .The interface for choosing weapons seems a bit tricky but doling out the ass whompings is quite satisfying . Not the best game ever but by no means the worst . Read more
