Speed Racer: The Videogame Wii Review

Excerpt: When a game is based on a movie you have every right to feel wary in its presence, given the poor quality output of many licensed games. There’s exceptions though, where love has not only been shown for the game itself, but for the source material as well. Speed Racer: The Videogame, whilst quite a distance from being perfect, zooms past mediocre with its slick nature and speed.
Summary: Parents need to know that this game is a direct offshoot of the Speed Racer movie. Seeing the film will make many children want to play the game and vice versa. Experiencing both will probably result in an overwhelming desire to buy lots of Speed Racer toys. Still, it's a good quality racing game with little in the way of worrisome content.
Summary: In Speed Racer, based on the upcoming film by the Wachowski brothers, where players will be able to take on the role of the characters from the film, getting behind the wheels of each character's signature vehicles to experience firsthand the film's high-adrenaline, combative racing style.
Excerpt: Warner Bros. recently brought back the 1960s era cartoon series Speed Racer (you can watch full episodes of the old show at TV.com ) to the big screen. The live-action movie used fancy new special effects with the help of the Wachowski brothers of The Matrix fame. The film debuted recently to moderate box office success and the newly formed Warner Bros. Interactive released a video game to complement the film on Nintendo DS and Wii.
Excerpt: is fast. Really fast. Early circuits are mellow and you won't have the beefier vehicles available, but that changes quickly enough. Each completed championship yields you another driver with new stats, until you've unlocked all 20. These are the folk you'd see if you watched the movie, with voice work to match.
Excerpt: This is one of the better movie spin-off games we have seen on the DS in a while. Great game play that will appeal to speed freaks, however the car combat aspects are under done and disappoint when compared to releases of this game on other platforms. The difficulty level may put off the younger player.
Pros: Some great looking graphics that deliver a real sense of speed. The controls are easy to pick up, and the game is fun to play.
Cons: Tutorial is not really a tutorial at all. The racing elements of the game try to make it to the front seat which should be occupied by combat instead.
