Test Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles

Generation NT
12 April 2010

Extremely violent horror/first-person shooter.

Common Sense Media
5 April 2010
  • Summary: Parents need to know that this first-person shooter is quite gory and bloody. Gamers can use an assortment of deadly weapons -- from pistols and machine guns to melee attacks using knives -- to kill human-like characters infected by a "mutagenic" virus (as well as animals, such as infected dogs, and monsters). It's possible to dismember limbs and decapitate heads, resulting in copious amounts of blood. Corpses can be seen on the ground, sometimes seeping entrails.

Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles

Cheat Happens
1 December 2009
  • Excerpt: The Resident Evil franchise has always been about man against monster, but Capcom’s latest spinoff; Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles introduces a new conflict to the mix – the battle of style versus substance. Just when you begin to enjoy your time with the zombie rail shooter, another design flaw pops up, and you realize just how flawed and unfinished the game truly is. Sure, it’s fun, but it’s a cheap type of fun.

Expert Review

GiantBomb
20 November 2009
  • Excerpt: Darkside Chronicles is a fine fit for those enamored with the fiction of the Resident Evil series. It's competent enough as a guided shooter, even if it doesn't do much to improve on the hoary old format.

Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles Review

GameSpot
17 November 2009
  • Summary: The only thing scary about this light-gun game is the dreadful shaky camera.
  • Pros: Lengthy campaign with replayability, Large variety of locations to explore and enemies to fight, Strong, coherent storytelling
  • Cons: Shaky-cam perspective makes precise aiming nearly impossible, Overreliance on cheap surprise tactics, AI partner is absolutely useless, Second player can't join during the action

Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles

Digital Chumps
16 November 2009
  • Conclusion: Nostalgia for Resident Evils past will power you through the overwhelming feelings of repetition, and the mechanics are solid, but Darkside Chronicles is still B Team material. Darkside Chronicles isn't a bad game; it's just a lazy one.

Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles Review (WII)

Yet Another Review Site
1 February 2010
  • Excerpt: No, it’s not a Resident Evil/Star Wars crossover… After being chased by rabid undead hordes in Left 4 Dead 2 firing projectiles willy nilly, it’s somewhat comforting to hear the words ‘Aim for the head!’ beckoned from your dunderhead of an ally. The lost art of turning rotting brains into a stream of nerve spaghetti isn’t the only piece of nostalgia to rise back from the grave, as Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles looks back on the series’ greatest hits once again...
  • Pros: Mood and atmosphere generally improved from the previous instalment, Lengthy story, Graphically impressive and suitable
  • Cons: Frustratingly shaky camera, Petty extras lead to little replay value, Cheap scares bend the rules against players

Resident Evil : The Darkside Chronicles

JeuxVideo.fr
18 April 2010
