Rainbow Islands: Towering Adventure! is a game developed by Taito for WiiWare and is the latest installment in the Rainbow Islands series. The game features slightly similar gameplay where players can choose to play either Bubblun or Bobblun or both (bubble-blowing dinosaur transformed into human form), with another gamer and will be required to make their way to the top of several long, vertical stages with the aid of rainbows, which they can create. The game has both single-player and multiplayer modes. It has an ESRB: E (for comic mischief), OFLC: G and PEGI: 3+ rating.

Features

Rainbow Islands: Towering Adventure! feature the adventures of twin heroes Bubby and Bobby as they embark on an adventure climbing to the top of Rainbow Tower. The game allows gamers to use mystical powers of Rainbow magic to ward off the attacks of the game’s villain, Dr. Crescent as they ascend to the top of Rainbow Tower to meet Holly’s Comet who has the ability to make any dream a reality. The game features seven uninterrupted Areas in Story Mode before reaching the top, where gamers meet the rainbow-coloured Holly's Comet. It also features the Challenge Mode where gamers are required to start from the ground and climb the Rainbow Tower as fast as they can; Time Attack Mode where gamers are required to avoid all Dr. Crescent's monsters or have their time decreased; and Rainbow Magic in which users can utilize to attack enemies, shield themselves from enemies and to jump to reach the top of Rainbow Tower. Along the way gamers can collect power-ups that can be collected by dropping a rainbow on top of an enemy result in one of seven coloured gems. Each time the gamer take a hit from an enemy, thirty seconds is lost from the timer. Extra time can be earned by defeating enemies and collecting the crystals they leave behind. Destroying enemies in quick succession will increase the multiplier and gain more time per crystal, and getting a chain of seven will level up the “Rainbow Jump” meter which is one of two new moves in Towering Adventure. The other new move in this game includes the Rainbow Shield. The game also features changes in its structure, where instead of several levels that are won with single-screen boss encounters; the game now features a continuous climb that requires gamers to fight against evil every hundred metres.
