Excerpt: Overlord Dark Legend, exclusively built from the ground up for the Wii by Climax, and published by Codemasters finally gives Nintendo fans the chance to rule, order and destroy an army of minions. For this version they have decided to set the story in a time before the original Overlord game to put you in the shoes of a new younger Overlord who is out to seek revenge on his older siblings.
Conclusion: All in all, Dark Legend gets a lot right, and as the Wii missed out on the well-reviewed original Overlord, gamers who own Wiis but no other gaming platforms should definitely give it a shot. The clever plot, the funny dialogue, and the ease of control all make for an experience worth having, and how does one say no to Pikmin with a touch of evil?
Summary: Overall I was pleasantly surprised with " Overlord: Dark Legend " and how the game translates to the Nintendo Wii particularly through it’s use of the controls. In addition the fact that the game is more of a prequel is a very welcome inclusion which should encourage new players of the series to give it a try.
Excerpt: Neither sequel, remake, nor port, Dark Legend is looking to establish its rule as a Wii-centric take on the popular Overlord franchise. And though it may seem easy to dismiss, conscious design choices and a smart implementation of the Wii remote make it fit to roam among the Wii's action-adventure lineup. Set before the events of the original, Dark Legend follows the rise to power of a budding overlord growing up in a less-than-storybook household.
Summary: We had this fantastic first paragraph lined up about how great it would be to have an army of minions at our disposal. Alas, NGamer editor Nick used that very paragraph to open last month's preview. Turns out, along with the NERFings and other random acts of humiliation, Nick is allowed to swipe our ideas. You see, he's our Overlord. Thankfully, Dark Legend gives us underlings a taste of things at the top.
