The game is known to be an open ended one with the idea that the main character should be able to kill all top ten assassins. There are different ways of earning money for Travis Touchdown to use in buying weapons, training sessions, video tapes and clothes. Travis gets to show off his professional wrestling maneuvers that players can use in their advantage to fight all enemies. It also has another mode the “Darkside Travis” that can be unlocked when three icons appear on a slot machine after the devastating deathblow move. The game has exceptional graphics that captures a player’s attention, making players crave for more.
See lessUsing Travis' hotel room home as the hub where you'll gleefully partake in such menial tasks as messing with the kitty, watching videos, raiding the fridge, checking your messages, or just taking a crap (saving) you take to the streets on Travis' Schpeltiger; a two wheeled Mach 5 of a motorcycle that takes some getting used to. The trick is in the bikes nuanced controls. Once you nail down the powerband and powerslides jetting around SD becomes big fun. The creme de la... Read more
Once in a while there is a game that comes along that can’t be defined by conventional standards. Even on a system defined by the unconventional, No More Heroes stands out amongst the rest. While No More Heroes may not be the best looking game or the even the most fun to play, it is one of the freshest games to ever grace the industry. Read more
When I first started working for Killer Betties, one of the first reviews I ever did was for the game Killer 7 for the Gamecube…and I ripped it apart. I absolutely loathed and hated the game, despite the fact that it had a very unique and stylish look. After hearing about No More Heroes – the first game since Killer 7 to be released by those same creators – I approached it with some apprehension, hoping that the game would carryover Killer 7’s unique style, but... Talk about a game that makes you change the perception of what a game can be. That's exactly what No More Heroes is and that says a lot about its creator, Suda 51. Hell the whole Suda 51 name is different than what you would think of from a game developer. There's so many nuances in this game that even though, at it's core, it's a simple hack-n-slash game, you would dare not want to put it into that same category with other HNS games. It almost makes a category for... Read more
Posted February 6, 2009 by Cory Derry in Reviews , Wii Reviews . No More Heroes is a game of unique proportions. If you play this game, chances are you will find at least one thing you will like, whether it be blood, swords, kitties, sexy women, motorcycles, baseball…well you get the idea. So without further ado, lets get started! You play Travis Touchdown, one of the most dorkiest assassins you will ever know. The game starts off with a cut-scene that explains how you... Read more
NMH is The Near Perfect Example of what every Wii game could be. Beautiful Cel Shaded Graphics, Good Sound & Voice Acting, and acceptable length. Controls are near perfect, although I've wonder at time if they could have been better or did I just suck that much at some side quest. (Although I'll just guess the latter.) NMH has a great story & deserves at least one play through to the real ending by everyone 17+! Read more
I only got as far as the school teacher who appears to be a teenager herself, which might actually be the second boss. I consider the game in my backlog, rather than played. I did like all the in-jokes. And even a friend who played Kingdom Hearts complained about the stupidness of collecting coconuts. What? That’s why I played zero hours of KH. First thing I had to do was get 20 coconuts. Why? I like to think that Mr. 51 thought the same thing. Best costume system in a... Read more
Let me just throw out that if we're not, Wii owners should be supporting games like No More Heroes: possibly the best 3rd Party title currently on the Wii, definitely one of the best games on the system. It's one of the most fun games I've played in a long while, at least since Super Mario Galaxy. The fighting controls are incredibly easy to learn, and quick to become proficient at. They're the best 3rd-party pairing of motion and button controls I've seen, and the... Read more
The game is interesting, albeit somewhat bizarre at times. The sword game play makes good use of the Wiimote and while it may seem repetitive, the actual game play will prevent you from actually focusing on the wild arm waving you are actually doing. The violence is over the top, borderline cartoony so it is probably fine for anyone who would not be bothered by an R rated movie or anime style violent scene. Not so much graphic as just copious with the blood. Read more
One of the very best games on Wii (or any console currently). Stylish and plays like a dream. If you miss out on this you're missing a title that will be fondly remembered for a long time. Maybe not one for the kids though. Read more
