It's all about nostalgia with New Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo Wii. If the characters and their exploits have dominated your younger years and then you left them for more complex, violent or narrative driven titles, the new game is a perfect way to reconnect and share some of the fond memories again. It's also perfect to bring an updated Mario adventure to those who have never experienced the magic in the first place. Read more

New Super Mario Bros. Wii is a love note to the 2D series, and in that sense, it evokes the wonderful splendor of the game's past. Enemies long forgotten and mechanics which kept this plumber employed even during the hard times are all present in this title. However, Mario is not without his missteps. Read more

Those that have never played a Mario game before are obliged to experience this new one. New Super Mario Bros. Wii is a true Mario game for young and old. The multiplayer element isn't the most important selling part but does bring some pleasant innovation despite the chaos it causes. 2D Mario at its best, despite the years of absense. Read more

I hold no grudges against the blue-collar emperor of platforming. As one of the few who managed to squeeze a decent amount of enjoyment from Super Mario Sunshine, it would take a special kind of nakedness to compel me to call him out. As it so happens, Nintendo has tailored exactly that in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Read more

Amazingly it's been 18 years since we last saw Mario in a side scrolling console classic. Not since the days of Super Mario World on the SNES have we been able to experience what for a lot of us is our most memorable gaming past time. This is far too long in our books, although we hadn't given it too much thought until now. Read more

From the opening title screen to the epic final battle, New Super Mario Bros. Wii has everything a fan of the franchise could ever want. Gaming has changed a lot in the last 18 years and I've often wondered, where have you gone Super Mario? Between the rise of the first person shooter and the proliferation of "mature" games, Nintendo's mascot stopped being the face of video gaming and just became another in the crowd. New Super Mario Bros. Wii has several distinctions. First, it probably has one of the worst names a video game has ever had, since the DS game, at least. I recall when the DS game, New Super Mario Bros., came out; I had a terrible time communicating with several store employs what I was looking for. Read more
