Wii Sports Review

VideoGamer.com

  • Excerpt: " It's just a tech demo. "You may have seen those words written in various places, often followed by a tirade of abuse from Nintendo fans the world over. Until recently their faith in Wii was just that, faith. They believed because they had to, because they'd seen Nintendo executives play tennis on stage and it looked a helluva lot of fun.

  • Excerpt: Wii Sports offers five distinct sports experiences, each using the Wii Remote to provide a natural, intuitive and realistic feel. Players use their own Mii caricatures in the game and play them against their friends' Miis for a more personalised experience. As players improve, their Miis ' skill levels will increase, so they can see exactly how much better they've become.

  • Excerpt: It's been a long time since the purchase of a gaming system came with a game. I remember a Christmas morning some years ago. Santa had brought a Nintendo Entertainment System and it came with the Super Mario Bros, Duck Hunt, and Nintendo Track and Field cartridge. It also had the light gun for shooting ducks/skeet, and the power-pad for running and jumping for Track and Field.

  • Summary: You can't expect too much from a pack-in game, and Wii Sports is no exception. While it's true that you will probably have a good time with one or two of the activities presented on this disc, it's just as likely that you'll get bored of them after only a few plays and never touch them again. Tweet This product was submitted by the publisher for review. As a rule, Defunct Games does not review games we spent money on.

  • Excerpt: Game systems on release haven’t had a pack-in game for awhile. Prices don’t seem to have done much because of this, but you had to buy games individually. Sure, a couple of years after release, you could get a pack-in around Christmas season – but for those that like to buy on release, you wouldn’t get one.

Wii Sports review (WII)

HonestGamers
24 November 2006
  • Excerpt: Wii Sports isn’t really a game. It’s a tech demo disguised by artwork that makes you think you’re playing five different sports--bowling, tennis, boxing, baseball and golf--but all you’re really doing is swinging your Wii Remote this way or that and convincing yourself that you’re having fun. If you’re like me, though, you’re not.

  • Excerpt: Wii Sports, one of the very first games on the wii and one of the first games made only for the wii. At this moment you can’t buy it individually, you can only buy it in a wii bundle package but the chances are that when you bought it with your wii (if you have one) you’ve got it.This game features 5 sports: Boxing, Baseball, Golf, Tennis & Bowling all of which are great.

  • Conclusion: Overall this is probably one of the all-time great pack-ins, up there with Super Mario Bros. on the NES, even if it is for completely different reasons and completely different controls.
