    • A lot of value for money, Beautiful, unique, atmospheric graphics in widescreen, Very atmospheric, Varied gameplay, Nice box
    • Little extras except controls and widescreen, Not worth buying immediately if you already own the original versions, except if you're a true fan

Nintendo has taken a lot of flack in the past for milking their marquee franchises with weak spin-offs and re-releases designed to make a buck and nothing more. Metroid Prime Trilogy is the antithesis of those complaints; a well conceived and executed upgrade and bundling offering something for new and veteran players alike. With a price of $50 for roughly 100 hours of gameplay, Metroid Prime Trilogy is arguably the best gaming value available on Nintendo Wii today. Read more

    • Motion controls natural for the entire series, Widescreen, achievements applied to first two games, Sharp "spared no expense" packaging, Great bang for the buck
    • Visuals not perfectly even across the trilogy, Online component not added

As much as I loved and continue to love the Gamecube, it's true that Nintendo's little machine wasn't very popular on the market. With the huge success of Wii, I bet Nintendo look back at the little cube with a humoured chuckle. As great as it was it simply didn't offer the market majority that the Playstation 2 and Xbox were offering. How things have changed. Read more

    • 3 epic games on 1 disc (no Pikmin-style rip-offs here), Smooth controls, Badge achievement available for all three games, Excellent presentation, Potentially 100 hours...
    • Inferior Part 3, Slightly repetitive (for some), No bonus features, Toned down difficulty

Three great games in one incredible package? Yes, please! The Metroid Prime Trilogy is a series of games centered around Samus Aran, a space bounty hunter and nerd-boy paramour. The storied history of this series's production is well known. Many doubted the decision to move the franchise into first-person. Gamers wondered if Retro Studios had the talent to deliver Nintendo-like quality on this esteemed franchise. They assumed that Metroid Prime was doomed to failure. Read more

Nintendo has a knack for successfully revisiting its core franchises and I would even venture to say that this happens almost more than any other developer. Samas Aran is the latest character to benefit from such treatment in Metroid Prime Trilogy (noted as Prime in this review). This trilogy brings all three Metroid Prime games together on one disc to complete the entire Phazon story arc. Read more

What makes Prime --and Echoes --even better in this release is the addition of 16x9 wide-screen support and retro-fitted WiiMote controls. Together, these upgrades gracefully bring the two GameCube titles into the current generation, allowing new fans to discover them for the first time, while giving Samus' most ardent supporters the opportunity to get lost all over again in these deeply engaging experiences. The controls for Metroid Prime 1 and 2 have been updated for the Wii. They also added credits which can be used to earn bonus content (mostly art from what I can tell). These are the only changes that I know of. Read more

    • The game costs $50+tax at Wal-Mart, and shipping is free so this is a better deal if you don't mind waiting.
    • The instruction manual was crumpled on the right side. This probably was a one time occurrence but I thought it deserved mentioning.

Metroid Prime Trilogy is a bundle containing: Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. If you havn't played these games this is a must-buy for every Wii-owner out there. The Metroid Prime games are basically FPS's with an heavy emphesis on exploring and collecting upgrades. Getting new and better weapons opens up areas which you couldn't explore earlier and so on. Read more
