Metroid: Other M review

GamesRadar
25 June 2012
  • Pros: Badass finishing moves, Story escalates near the end, The last few boss battles are flat-out awesome
  • Cons: Combat is not skill based and gets old fast, First and third-person viewpoints don't always gel, Gameplay and story drag for several hours

Metroid: Other M Review

Games Abyss
7 February 2011
  • Conclusion: Unless you are an avid Metroid fan, Other M may not be for you. It is definitely worth renting however.
  • Pros: The boss battles make this game and will drive you forward. Mastering the dodge mechanic makes counterattacking and dominating your enemies plenty of fun.
  • Cons: The game has no huge problems, just a lot of tiny ones. The game could feel kind of monotonous after a while. And the lack of seeing any real increase in your power keeps you from getting too excited.

Metroid: Other M Wii Review

Console Obsession
21 January 2011
  • Excerpt: Nintendo are hardly a company that adapts with the rest of the industry. In fact, by the time they do catch up, what was once a new trend no longer is. Nintendo’s properties haven’t really been featured in any cinematic games as such for example, but Metroid: Other M is something outside of the Nintendo norm: a game that embraces a popular trend and even gives Samus Aran a voice.

Test Metroid Other M

Generation NT
20 November 2010

Metroid: Other M (Wii)

ccgr.org
13 November 2010
  • Excerpt: Metroid is iconic to Nintendo gamers, and perhaps gamers in general. I grew up playing Super Metroid with my friends, and searched out a copy of Return of Samus with an exuberance akin to that of Christmas morning. It seemed so mature and dark; a lone superhero crawling through a planet full of nasties in the endless pursuit of  galactic safety.
  • Pros: New take on Metroid, interesting combat, fantastic world
  • Cons: Bad storytelling, repetitive gameplay mechanics

Metroid: Other M

Game Over Online
4 October 2010
  • Excerpt: I’ve been a Metroid fan ever since I played the NES original at a flea market in 1991 and bought it immediately. Since then, I’ve seen its side-scrolling gameplay evolve on the Super Nintendo, original Game Boy, the GBA, and clearly influence the Castlevania series. The series hit the GC, Wii, and DS in the FPS-esque Prime games, which were a major departure due to the first-person view, but also executed first-person adventure games about as well as the side-scrollers...

Metroid Other M Review

DailyGame
27 September 2010
  • Excerpt: When it was said that Team Ninja was taking over the reigns on a Metroid title, I had some horrid flashbacks of DOA Xtreme Beach Volleyball mixed with the joys that the Ninja Gaiden revival brought. Hearing it was making a move to a pseudo-two dimensional viewpoint, with some first person segments for scanning and missile launching brought both interest and trepidation at how the approach would work.
