Marvel Super Hero Squad

Gamer vision
2 November 2009
  • Excerpt: There was a time when Marvel, purveyors of comic books and all things superheroic, would slap their license on just about any low-quality product that fly-by-night Chinese manufacturers put in front of them.  What resulted was ugly, unarticulated action figures, sub-par animated series, countless low quality candies, soaps, party favors, and a slew of bad video games.

  • Summary: The lives of superheroes are supposed to be the most exciting imaginable. Imbued with the power of flight, tank-tossing strength, or just an obscene amount of patriotism, these lifesaving do-gooders get their jollies from foiling the plans of evil masterminds, concocting elaborate disguises, or just messing around with their many extraordinary abilities. There is no such fun to be had in Marvel Super Hero Squad.
  • Pros: Silly story is so bad that it's good, Lots of different characters, with a healthy mix of the popular and obscure
  • Cons: Combat is dull and repetitive, Awful camera when more than one player is onscreen, Battle mode is severely imbalanced, Archaic, unimaginative visuals

Marvel Super Hero Squad - WII - Review

GameZone
26 October 2009
  • Excerpt: Wolverine, Spider-Man, Hulk, Thor, Iron Man. Who doesn’t love at least one of these characters? These comic book superheroes have become such an integral part of our lives that they’re practically legendary. As kids, we wanted to be them (and often dressed as them for Halloween). As teens, we couldn’t part with their respective toys because we considered them to be “collectors’ items.” And as adults we flock to movie theaters every summer to see them on the big screen.
