Game Freaks 365
11 December 2010
  • Excerpt: It has been thirteen years since a little game called GoldenEye hit the market on the Nintendo 64. A lot has changed since then, yet several developers have tried to re-create the magic of that game with indirect clones and even a “spiritual remake” using the same title, GoldenEye: Rogue Agent, which did not have any relation whatsoever to the original game or movie.

GoldenEye 007 Review

PlayDevil
9 December 2010
  • Summary: The biggest shame about " GoldenEye 007 " is that is that it’s on the Wii. Graphically, it looks great, and wouldn’t take too much to upgrade it to the more powerful consoles. But the control schemes are poor, the online is let down by the hardware, and in general, you feel that the game is held back by the hardware rather than the coding.

GoldenEye 007 Wii Review

Console Obsession
16 November 2010
  • Excerpt: N64 legend GoldenEye 007 did so much for both console shooters and the FPS in general, so much so that, over ten years later, it’s still regarded as the best Bond game ever made and echoes of its design can be seen in numerous games that have featured 007 over the years. Even its name has been reused in a cheeky marketing ploy by EA (in case you’re wondering, the game wasn’t very good) but until now it’s never been remade.

GoldenEye 007

D+PAD
14 November 2010
  • Conclusion: In an industry arguably over populated with first person shooters, it was always going to be tough for this revamp to make the same mark on the first person genre that the original did 13 years ago. And from that point of view, GoldenEye Wii does indeed fail to inject that same groundbreaking feeling that the original did upon its release.

GoldenEye 007

AV Club
8 November 2010
  • Excerpt: GoldenEye 007 for the Nintendo 64 was the game that introduced non-PC gamers to the joy of multi-player shooters. Fast-paced, elegant, and packed with quirky game modifiers, the game has endured as an unimpeachable classic. Naturally, rather than being re-released, it has been “reimagined” as GoldenEye 007 for the Wii. Even though it chases standards rather than setting them, the game can safely be called the console’s finest shooter.

  • Conclusion: Instead of standing in the original GoldenEye's shadow, Eurocom has created a brand new game that is just as compelling and addictive as the original. An expertly produced story mode and an engrossing multiplayer make the new GoldenEye one of the best experiences on any console this holiday. Round up your friends and get ready to get hooked all over again, GoldenEye 007 is back.
