Summary: Only three thoughts after playing this a dozen times and trying to like it, I gave up of course: - What's the point of a board game when everyone is in a kart rolling and moving at the same time? I know maybe it's easier to program. - Since everyone is in a nice little car moving around the board there are often times you miss a turn and need to get an exact roll on the dice to progress....
Summary: I loved Mario Party since I got the 6th installment for Christmas. I bought this with my own money when I turned 15 and was highly disappointed. The 6-sided die is stupid--why change the 10-sided one? There are NO orbs or candy or any awesome weaponry. The mini-games are all right, but the boards take forever and it just isn't fun anymore. Not to mention, half the fun is EARNING the mini-games--this one has all of then previously unlocked.
Summary: Why would you do this? Yes, there have been good Marip Parties and bad Mario Parties before, but the other parties sucked because the food was bad or peach got drunk and threw up on Toad again. They had their problems, but they were still parties and they worked. This one was like a church-sponsored event where everyone had to sit in steel hard-backed chairs and play Candyland, except the little old ladies running the event would frequently move the winning players back...
Summary: With this reboot they took away almost all the replayability, and certainly a lot of the fun. 1) There are slight differences between the maps, but really they're all the same with different 'paint jobs'. THIS GAME IS VERY REPETITIVE, even tedious at times! 2) There isn't any individuality which removes a lot of the competitive nature which made it fun!
Summary: My girlfriend and I (26, and 25) loved the competitive nature of the previous Mario Parties. With that being said, this game removed all the competition with this stupid a** car that you all drive around in. We didn't even play it, the second all the players hopped in the vehicle we looked at each other in disgust. Why they would take competition out of a game that is designed to be competitive is beyond me.
Summary: My wife, our siblings, and I (ages 25-32) have been battling each other with Mario Party 2, 4, 6, 7, and 8 for years. We love that we could compete against each other and strategize to fight our way to victory. Mario Party 9 took all the fun out of the series. The game is 80% luck with most of the action occuring at two boss mini-games in each level. You could go the entire rest of the board without a mini-game if you land on the wrong squares.
Summary: I really wanted to review this game to let everyone know how bad this game is. If you liked Mario Party 8 you will HATE this game. Everything about this game is awful. I logged probably 200+ hours in mario party 8 and eventually it kind of got old and traded it in, but I couldn't play this game for more than a few hours total. It's almost like they took everything fun in mario party 8 and said "eh, let's not make this game any fun".
Summary: I've purchased every single MarioParty game as soon as it's come out. They've all been a huge blast of fun and great times with friends... until this one. There is absolutely no strategy to this game what so ever. In fact, I played with a bunch of teenagers and once we completed one board of this, we took it out and put Mario Party 8 in to have some fun.
Summary: I'm ranking this game compared to other Mario Party games. I give it zero stars (pun intended). I'm in my early twenties, and get together with friends often. We like to play a video game when we hang out, Mario Party 8 is one of our favorites. I've played many Mario Party games myself, since the first came out when I was a kid.
